: MediaTakeOut.com learned that today is Chancellor Lee Adams’ birthday!! Who is he, you ask? Well he’s former NFLer Rae Carruth's son.
For those of you who don’t remember the story, Chancellor’s mother, Cherica Adams, was shot four times while driving home in Charlotte. She got pregnant by NFL player Rae Carruth and refused to have an abortion.
So Rae hired a hitman to have her MURDERED. On Nov. 16, 1999, the pregnant Cherica was ambushed by a masked gunman (hired by her then-boyfriend Rae) and left for dead. Luckily she was found and doctors were able to deliver Lee in an emergency Caesarean section, although he was 10 weeks premature. Even though the bullets missed Chancellor, his mother's loss of blood and oxygen left him severely handicapped.
Chancellor's mother died from the injuries and his father is in jail for life. But Chancellor's got a new lease on life. Despite being mentally handicapped, he's able to walk (something doctors thought would be impossible) and he's getting plenty of love from his grandmother (Cherica's mother) whom he lives with.

Yeah we remember the story of the selfish,angry son of a b.i.t.c.h who was so desperate to avoid paying child support that he had the mother murdered. I just say to other women that could be targets or have been threatened not to give birth because the man does not want them to, to just leave the man alone and take hem to court if you want to keep your child, but DEFINITELY stay away from a man that wants you and your baby dead,because this is another thing that happens all the time. Well I would tell all MEN to strap!She was a GOLD DIGGER to the 5th power!!! Her mother never raised her and now she has to raise her grandson.Rae was crazy for this. Yes all he had to do was pay child support but when its by a gold digger I guess it became a different story. The only postive thing about this is that the baby lived and now the grandmother can be a mother to her grandchild cause she was never a mother to Cherica! By no means was Rae right to take a life. So ppl please men and women find out who you are dealing with b4 u decide to have unprotected ***.
The story is not sad at all. Chancellor is "Alive" and has a lot of love from his grandmother and grandfather, and a host of relatives and friends. Ray married while in prison, BUT is in PRISON 4 LIFE. Cherica is in heaven and watches over her son. All I want to say is:

omg!!! i was so obsessed witht his trail when it came on court t.v. and the guy that killed cherica who's from hollis queens by the way, name was van. Rae didn't get life, he got 24 yrs. He will be in his 40's when he is released. He didn't want to have to pay child support. He was already paying child support to his other baby mama, and he was injured and his NFL career was in jeopardy. If he didn't want a child he should have worn a condom. He has the power to decide if he wants a baby or not, it is not all the woman's responsibility. He should have gotten life without the possibility of parole. Now I hope he is getting *** down.

I cannot believe some of the things you guys are saying about the child's mother. It doesn't matter the type of person she was or whether she was trying to get child support. She did not deserve to have her life taken like that. And what kinda a man would harm the mother of his unborn child. jeopardize the life of his own child. I watched this trial on court tv like a soap opera that summer, it was very intriguing. I was disappointed that Carruth only recieved 20 years for such a heinous, callous crime. Rae had one of those stereotypical mothers who thought her son did no wrong (I'm sure that's why he ended up in the mess he did). I remember the deceased woman's family making the son's condition known only after the trial was over. I only hope... Mediatakeout... that the family has given permission for these pictures of a "minor" to be published.

How can some commit such a hanus crime on a pregnant women and her unborn child? I remember this story I was really young when it was broadcasted but, I seen it on American Justice, lucky judgement prevailed for this child or society as we know it would no longer be the same to have the heart to kill a woman for not terminating her pregnancy is absolutly an out cry for help.

This is Rae's father and while the media continue to pounce on my son's character for something he did not do one day the truth will come out. How many of you went to the Trial and show the actually killer and his attitude and confession in the court room. Did you hear the judge command the jury to bring back a verdict of guilty either in the one or second degree? The guy that killed this beautiful young lad has killed before. Who gets in the car with two other people and go out and do a contract killing. This is a spin off of OJ. You should pray for Chancelor and Rae both being victims.
This is a very sad chapter in both families and in American. I feel the anger from all of you looking at those pictures. Imagine that being your grandson! Every parent knows their child and we know what's in their heart! I understand how you feel! However, the evidence did not convict Rae but the fact that former girl friends testified that he did not want a child before marriage. That does not make you a killer thats make you responsible.
