: MediaTakeOut.com learned of a sad story today. A Detroit man named Jamar Pinkney is charged with CAPITAL murder for killing his own son.
Here's what happened. Jamar's 15 year old son (Jamar Jr) confessed to his mother that he was molesting his 3 year old half sister (his father's daughter with another woman). Jr's mother immediately called up Jamar Sr and told him what his teenage son was doing. And Jamar Sr flew into a rage.
Here's how the teenage boy's aunt recalls the incident:
“He beat my nephew real bad in the head, where he had knots like he had been in a boxing ring ... [When Cherry tried to intervene, the father pulled out a gun.]"The elder Jamar apparently beat up his son. Then took him out into a field behind the house and shot him.“I ran down the street to get police down here and I heard a gunshot,"
As sad as the story sounds, we don't think the dad should go to jail for murder. Maybe manslaughter or something ...

How a father can beat and murder his own son is very crazy to me and he did it with such hate. Yes, He should go to jail for murder and if the son was still alive he should have went to jail and got punished for his crime. im in detroit and there is no excuse for murder. he also made him strip naked. took him to a field and made him kneel then shot him in the back of the head. molesters were most likely molested so he needed help not a bullet. i pray his soul is at peace and i pray for the dad and family. That's actually not how it went,I live in Detroit and it was the 3yrs old mother who ALLEGED that the son did "inappropriate" things to the child.The son never had the opportunity to explain whether or not it was true.He never confessed to it, it was alleged by the baby's mother.In addidtion, one needs carefully examine if the child was molesting his sister who began molesting him?Children who molest other children have often been molested themselves.. Considering the little girl is only 3 years old I don't think she'll have any memory of what her brother did to her that being said I think the father should have called the police to have him arrested if he was to be release put him in foster care. Now she has to go through life w/o her brother and father. That can cause her to have mental problems...IDK..this is very sad. I wish the family well.

For all who say it was wrong must not have kids. the love of a child is overpowering. If any one in my family molests or rapes another Family member that person is no longer my family. This is a very sad situation... u have a baby being molested, by her brother and a father who flew into a rage and killed his own son. Police said Jamar Pinkney Sr. forced his son, Jamar Pinkney Jr., to get naked and then he led him out of his mother's Highland Park home Monday and shot him execution-style in the head in a nearby field.
Jamar Pinkney Sr. was charged with first-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without chance for parole. He was also charged with three counts of felonious assault and felony firearm.
Highland Park Judge Bridgette Officer arraigned the 37-year-old on the charges Wednesday afternoon in 30th District Court. Jamar Pinkney Sr. pleaded guilty at the arraignment.
My thoughts the father was wrong in no way do i believe that anybody should hurt a child in any way i have a daughter and nieces and nephews and i swear somebody will be coming up missing messing with mine as for this situation they could have gotten the lil boy some help once again i don't condone the fact that he touched his sister but he did not deserve to die by his fathers hand
The witness said the father calmly got into his vehicle and drove away.
"He was calm and drove off like a regular person, like he didn't do anything, and I am like, 'wow,'" said the witness.
Police were looking for the father after he fled the area. He was caught a few hours later.
"Whatever my grandson did there, there is nothing in this world that was worth taking his life. He got him down on his knees and killed him," said the boy's grandfather.
"No individual has the right to exact the death penalty on another, no matter how reprehensible the behavior. That is why we have laws," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
Jamar was a sophomore at Martin Luther King High School. Family members said he was active in sports.
Jamar Pinkney Jr.'s aunt Janice Burkes said she doesn't believe the allegations of molestation because her nephew was a sweet boy and very good with kids.
"No I can't believe that I think. It’s a bunch of crap," said Burkes.
A candlelight vigil for the victim was held Tuesday evening in Highland Park. His funeral has been set for Monday.
A fund has been set up to help the family with burial expenses. Donations can be made at the Charter One Bank branch in Highland Park.
This man is absolutely insane and is not a responsible father. I believe he molested the boy and become angry that the things he taught the boy now came back to haunt him by way of his daughter. There is no reason to murder this boy. The father deserves death or life in prison. He should've sought help for the boy and family counseling. He's only 15 and can change. Come on now! I can't believe what i am reading. The ends do not jusify the means. Murder is much worse than molestation. Murder is FINAL! This father was dead wrong! But since that is an unanswered question, the father should have given his son a chance and tried to seek help for him... I just don't know if that would've rehabilitated him. I hear ya...Dudes get killed for a lot less! His age doesn't mean a damn thing becasue there is no rehabing these monsters! If he was molested, not an excuse cause an overwhelming # of kids r violated, but don't grow up preverts! Things like this onset behavior problems & mental illness! There are reason's why children play house together and put there hands in there diapers as children...it's called sexual exploration. They are identifying w. their sex and (others) trying to find out who they are. Once we stop those act they began to try to explore other children. The family of slain 15-year-old Jamar Pinkney, Jr. was overcome with emotions Wednesday as his father was led into court and arraigned on first-degree murder charges in his death.Police said Jamar Pinkney, Sr. forced his son, Jamar Pinkney Jr., to get naked and then he led him out of his mother’s Highland Park home Monday and shot him execution-style in the head in a nearby field. Jamar Pinkney, Sr. was charged with first-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without chance for parole. He was also charged with three counts of felonious assault and felony with a firearm. Highland Park Judge Bridgette Officer arraigned the 37-year-old on the charges Wednesday afternoon in 30th District Court. Jamar Pinkney, Sr. pleaded guilty at the arraignment.
“In the event that there’s evidence that he did do this…that’s something that either a jury or a judge would have to take a good, hard look at,” said the defendant’s attorney, Corbett Edge O’Meara.
A judge ordered the father held without bond and set a preliminary examination for Dec. 1. “You seen the look on this face, no expressions or nothing, just a cold-hearted murder,” said one of the victim’s family members outside the courtroom Wednesday. The victim’s mother and her sister told police that Jamar Pinkney, Sr. came into the home Monday afternoon with a gun and began arguing with his son. Family members said the argument stemmed from a confession made by the son. According to Jamar Pinkney, Jr.’s family, the teen told his mother that he’d touched his 3-year-old half-sister inappropriately at his father’s Detroit home. The toddler is his father’s daughter with another woman. Jamar Pinkney, Jr.’s aunt Yolanda Cherry told Local 4 she was in the home during the argument. “He beat my nephew real bad in the head, where he had knots like he had been in a boxing ring,” said Cherry. When Cherry tried to intervene, she said, the father pulled out a gun.
“I ran down the street to get police down here and I heard a gunshot,” said Cherry. Witnesses at the scene told Local 4 that they saw Jamar Pinkney, Sr. order the naked teen out of the home and to an empty field. A woman who did not want her identity revealed told Local 4 what she saw.
“He brought him out the house, he walked him over there and said, ‘Get on the ground,’ and he’s like, ‘No, Daddy, no, Daddy,’ and next thing you know, he grabbed his head and he shot him,” said the witness. The witness said the father calmly got into his vehicle and drove away. “He was calm and drove off like a regular person, like he didn’t do anything, and I am like, ‘wow,’” said the witness. Police were looking for the father after he fled the area. He was caught a few hours later. “Whatever my grandson did there, there is nothing in this world that was worth taking his life. He got him down on his knees and killed him,” said the boy’s grandfather.
“No individual has the right to exact the death penalty on another, no matter how reprehensible the behavior. That is why we have laws,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. Jamar was a sophomore at Martin Luther King High School. Family members said he was active in sports. Jamar Pinkney, Jr.’s aunt Janice Burkes said she doesn’t believe the allegations of molestation because her nephew was a sweet boy and very good with kids. “No I can’t believe that I think. It’s a bunch of crap,” said Burkes. A candlelight vigil for the victim was held Tuesday evening in Highland Park. His funeral has been set for Monday. A fund has been set up to help the family with burial expenses. Donations can be made at the Charter One Bank branch in Highland Park.
There are only 3 things that a child who suffers from the trauma of sexual abuse will turn out to be if the proper help is not received:
They can:
a) turn to drugs, alcohol, promiscuity a life of destruction, anything to ease the pain(highly likely). b) turn out to be child molesters themselves(even more likely). c) hate the opposite sex and begin to be attracted to the same sex(very likely).

I have to disagree with u on that one! At 15 I was trying cigerettes, experimenting with boys, and ocassionally playing hookie! Never once did I deicide to molest a child, and yes I have a son! I live in Detroit and there is much more to this story. The father paraded the boy outside naked and he was pleading for his life. Also the boy confessed to laying on top of the girl. Supposedly the girl has been taken to the hospital and there is no indication of penetration. There are many rumors flying around but the only thing that is definitely true is that this young boy is dead.

If I was a juror, I would use the laws to make my judgement... not my opinions of right or wrong. So that's a moot point... as I've already stated that he broke the law, so he should go to jail for that. Again, flip flopping is jumping back and forth. Using Jeffrey Dahmer as an example wasn't a justification for the father's actions but justification for why IIIIIIII have a dilemma.

The father had no right to kill his own son. The boy needed help. I'm sure if his mother knew that her son would be dead in a matter of seconds, he would not have told the father. The boy being young in age could have received counseling or some type of mental health treatment. Go have the 3yr old checked. I have a feeling they’re not going to find any signs that the child might have been molested. The father killed his son in a brutal way, and he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, for his actions.

Whoa! Not much to say, temporary insanity may be appropriate to say. For that moment, he may not have been his son but the person who was hurting his babygirl. Who are we as humans to say whether or not another human is deserving of death? I will say however it appears that this killing was a crime of passion. Jamar Sr was more than likely driven by uncontrollable rage. Who wouldn't absolutley flip out after being made aware of such a horrible, heinous, life-altering act being commited against their own child?! This killing doesn't appear to be premeditated, and if everything happened the way it's being reported, Jamar Sr's reaction is totally understandable. I read the story. I actually read two versions. One- the son confess to his mom, & the other, the daughter’s mom accuses the son Two different scenarios one thing consistent The father never asked any questions his intent was to kill.
The little girl did not deserve to be molested, (allegation) & The boy didn’t deserve to die. There are consequences to pay for every wrong action. The father took the consequence beyond the crime (with no facts) Grown ass men don’t get that treatment with a sworn confession! This father will pay for the rest of his life.

I'm normally not an advocate of captiol punishment, but when it comes to a pedophile, I'm on the fence b/c thats such a horrible and incurable sickness, and pedophiles are capable of acts that can/will ruin the lives of other people. Psychological studies, research and history have all proven that people who commit these acts one time will do it over and over again, even after being castrated, or locked up for several years. I don't think this man should've killed his son, but I do think if a pedophile isn't forever locked away from society, then he is better off dead.

why are so many people here taking this post so personal? this post should not cause a person to question whether or not they could kill their own child...that is beside the point! the only real point this story makes (if you must take anything from it...) is what this particular father was willing to do to protect his 3 year old daughter...even at the expense of his own 15 year old son.
with that said...the only thing i can think that's makes some so uncomfortable is the fact that...in the black community...boys are at times encouraged to be sexual...more so than girls...and in this case it turned out to be fatal for this 15 year old.
