: MediaTakeOut.com learned of a very disturbing story. A Milwaukee schoolteacher was arrested, for cutting off a 7 year old girl's hair.
Here's how it all popped off. The little girl, Lamya Cammon, was playing with her hair in class - causing the beads at the end of her braids to click together loudly. Her first grade teacher asked Lanya to stop. And when she didn't, she did the unthinkable.
Here's how Lamya explained to WISN 12 In Milwaukee what happened:
She said the teacher called her to the front of the room and cut it in front of the whole class.Lamya has been growing her braids, which are 100% natural, since she was an infant."What did you do?" [The reporter] asked.
"I went to my desk and cried. And they was laughing," Cammon said. "She threw it away, and she said, 'Now what you gonna go home and say to your momma?' And I said, 'That you cut off my hair,'" Cammon said.
As soon as Lamya's mother found out what the teacher did, she called police. They charged the teacher with disorderly conduct. If convicted she faces a fine of $175.
Seems like that teacher should get MORE than just a $175 fine!!!!
Now, I know MTO is adding the fluff, to draw emotion, but the truth is A.) Most 7 year olds have been growing their hair from birth, and B.) Most 7 year old black girls' hair is natural...
That being said, that is messed up, and my 3 year old has hair down her back, if her teacher was to cut it, there would be hell,fire, and brimstone to pay.

This teacher should have no certification. If you cannot handle being around children that are not your own why go into education? I have 23 children in my room, no para and I take care of any issue on my own. Principles have enough duties. This teachers sucks if she gets that flustered by some *** beads making noise. She needs to be worried about making sure that her kids get the education they need in order to be successful for the following year. Stuff like this really *** me off. I am very embarrassed for this school district and for the school. Her certification needs to be revoked!

I would have her charged with assault and battery and push to have her put in jail. There is no excuse for this type of behavior.

Well I can tell you from 2 different incidents tha you should protect your children at all cost. I had 2 different incidents where these c racka women thought it was okay to place their hands on my infant sons. Let's just say that it was a wonder that I've skated jail or probation thus far! On another note though, I can also testify that if you are a parent of a school age child and never visit the classroom ( announced or not) then you are in for a rude awakening! I'm known at every school my children attend. They have never had any behavior problems and are doing well in school. I have had to check a few teachers on simple things like allowing my child to go to the bathroom. Some teacher associations aren't any different than police associations. They will stick together but i've seen parents throw board members out of office recently. These parents don't play round here LOL

good_downsouth yep, I don't play that *** what-so-ever. I complain to my daughters principle often. I email her teachers often when my daughter says she has a problem. I ask about her progress often and what I can do to help her succeed. I take my kid to class when most parents drop their kids off. I know it is good for them to be independent but I like to make sure. She is in elementary school, 1st grade, but she has plenty of time to be independent. I have had teachers come out the side of their face to me and thought I wasn't going to say anything. They had another thing coming.

The bottom is line is that the teacher used poor judgement.It is true that the kids today are bad as hell and their parents are just as bad. The little girl should have stopped playing with the *** beads but she didn't and the teacher should have removed her from the class and informed the parent/administrator. You don't touch a student or the student's person at all. Cardinal Rule: DON'T TOUCH no matter how bad the little *** are.

You know, I had a thought just now. What if this is not the first time she has been doing this to this child or any other child. We are not just talking about cutting hair. She might have a history of belittling, shaming or maybe some other act of abuse. Maybe that is why they don't want to reveal who she is.

I am a teacher here on the West Coast (7th grade...English). Trust me when I say this - some students can drive you to that point. However, we have to maintain a level of professionalism at ALL times. Being firm is one thing, but being abusive is another...

This particular teacher was in the wrong. No way should she have cut a childs hair. If she worked in my school system, she would have been fired that day. This beautiful little child did not deserve to be treated that way. She has been emotionally scarred for life. This deranged teacher who humiliated this child in front of her clasmates should be fired. It is time to stop this abuse of our children in these schools. This woman is supposed to be trained to handle behavior problems in her clasroom. The school is supposed to have procedures to follow in handling disruptive children. The general rule in most schools is that you do not put your hands on children. Why didn't she send her to the principal? The teacher should be fired.

To the parent of the child: Please notify CPS so that this psycho teacher can be put on the child abuse hotline. She assaulted this child. Please demand that she be fired and her certificate be revoked. She is unfit to teach. Please do not let your child go back in her clasroom. Do not let it go. Fight for what is right.
The teacher had no right to cut the child's braid and for that she deserves an *** whopping. But on the other hand it seems the little girl was being disruptive to the class playing with her hair so the teacher should have used better judgement and just sent her to the principal's office. No one has the right to put their hands on a child that does not belong to them...even it was to teach them a lesson. Leave that to the parent.

That Teacher is represented by that School's District, and I'm sure she's in a Union. Get your legal Rep on point with the school board's rep. OK. That was wrong of the teacher. Before I saw the pic, I thought she cut off all the little girl's hair. It's a tiny piece of a bride. The $175 fine is enough and she should be suspended for one payperiod but not fired. THE LITTLE GIRL WAS RUDE.
