: MediaTakeOut.com has some SAD NEWS to report. Legendary radio personality Donnie Simpson is getting FIRED from his Washington DC radio station.
Here's what happened. Donnie's ratings have been a little down recently, and management had been trying to convince him to do things to attract YOUNGER listeners. Well Donnir didn't appreciate management telling him how to run his own show, so they fired him.
On the bright side, MediaTakeOut.com learned that Donnie is still under contract, and his home station WPGC is going to have to PAY HIM until the contract ends.
Here's how the Washington Post is reporting things:
Simpson's departure follows months of declining ratings for his show and internal friction between Simpson and WPGC's management. The station has sought to boost Simpson's ratings and attract younger listeners by updating his playlist and playing hit songs more often. Simpson and his producer-son, Donnie Jr., have maintained that the station was meddling, compromising his long-running program and alienating loyal listeners.CBS had wanted to ease Simpson out with a celebratory retirement party in mid-March, but Simpson declined, according to people familiar with the negotiations between him and the station. Late last week he began telling listeners on the air that his departure was imminent but didn't specify when he'd be leaving.
I thought he's been acting different lately just coming out of his mouth with anything. Yesterday he said he would love to guard Kim Kardashian's ***! LOL That is so not his character among other little things he's said and just his attitude lately. I guess Chris Paul saw it coming and that's why he bounced last yr. The new co hosts (all 3) suck!!

WPGC is just as bad as that PAYOLA station in New York City (Hot 97). That station is a Northeast station heavy on Southern Hip-Hop during the day.
When a station ignores it's own regional artists to play big-label artists from another region,you know PAYOLA has a lot to do with it. That station has low ratings,but the owners wont fire the Program Director. PAYOLA is a byyytch.
WPGC owner (CBS Radio) just hired a man who was fired from Power 105.1/New York for PAYOLA. Dumb move.
personally i listen to Steve Harvey in the morning......its a shame that you gotta do dumb ish like the Russ Parr morning show to get ratings...Donnie was a good dude...but i did see this coming...he brought in that new chick Angie but i guess that didnt help....well he has money in the bank...DC loves you Donnie....
I flip between stations I love russ parr morning show there all funny I love the emails and horoscopes !! Sorry I don't like this new girl with her aw hell naw moments !! NOT FUNNY !! Very corny they all seem forced to laugh very fake !! I was listening yesterday when he said he was basically forced to leave that's fu@ked up !! I guess he was loyal to "older listners" in the morning but tigger had the younger crowd in the afternoon
Donnie's Show has been going down hill for years. I hope his son DJ gets the boot with him, he is AWFUL!! Angie seems like she has been in a coma for the past 10 years and doesnt have a clue about whats going on in the DC area. Bootsy sounds like he rode the *** bus to school and Mike Brooks seems like he is sleep and every 30 minutes he throws a joke in to let the radio world know that he is still there. Chris Paul leaving really hurt Donnie and WPGC.

WOOOW!!! Well I haven't listened to Donnie in years... but I grew up on him, David Hanes, and Huggy Lowdown (when he was still there)...but to be honest WPGC is some b^llsh-t anyways...only thing they have going for them is afternoon radio lineup (including Tigger)...the morning show was dry and flex and rayne some bs too...i think they were the same station that was dissin wale...

EVERY-BODAY GET UP! :D UGH@WPGC...that station and it's 25 song rotation lol Well at least I got to go to his BET award thingie back in '07. AND there's always Russ ^.^ even though people in the 40 and up crowd may not want to hear all that "foolishness" in the murnin'...I do though, especially during rush hour on 495.

That says it. All of them pretty much are full of ish. I never knew Donnie had a station though. The radio has too much garbage on it. When I am in my car I need peace and serenity. I have my radio off or I listen to the gospel station.
Donnie is weak and WPGC is weak. Russ Parr is much more entertaining. The management is right...he needs to be more young-listener friendly.
I mean don't get me wrong, Ive been listening to the Donnie Simpson Show for years, but him and Chris Paul need to step their game up.

Thats so sad that Donnie Simpson was fired from that radio show.Old school jams never will go out of style! In the 80s,i used to LOVE me some Video Soul,it brings back memories.I wish Donnie the best,he was always true professional for years.BET went down the toilet since Donnie has been gone. he still got those sexy green eyes!
Ohhh, thats a shame! But great he stuck to his guns though, he played actual music and appreciated actual music! and real hip-hop even!. Im sorry but the radio waves are seriously lacking real music w/ real lyrics. And hip hop is not candy paint this or have a baby by me and be a millionaire. I don't feel bad for him because 1 things for sure.....Donnie is Caked up! He will make due. On FACEBOOK he said he was said to leave his listeners but happy for what's in store....best believe it's 1000's of people trying to *** him up for their show, or something...That's like Simon leaving idol...he's QUITTING because they're changing the direction of the show for the WORST! So it's time to go cause just like Donnie, he wants no part of the BS!
I knew it was coming anyway when his right hand man Chris Paul left. People do some of the dunbest things just to get ratings. I remember him not wanting to interview the dude from the movie American Gangster Frank Lucas because he didn't agree with interviewing someone who was famous for dealing drugs and killing people but his boss didn't give a f*ck about all that. There are bigger and better things in store for Donnie...his whole family is successful. Stay Positive Donnie!
With me, I can't stand Russ ignorant azzz(hopefully its acting), Steve comes on like he's ready to whoop somebody's azzz but his deadbeat azzz ain't gonna do a dammn thing(and he knows it too), Tom Joyner-I really try to like him BUT I CAN'T(too much shuck'*** and jive'***). So Donnie was relevant to my morning commute. He just made a bad call bringing his son on the air. I couldn't get over the fact that his son married a white woman and here he is trying to relate to a black listening audience. I'm old fashion so i'm not going to tolerate that. Donnie KNEW better than that.
