: MediaTakeOut.com just learned that Magic Johnson is in talks to buy EBONY Magazine. Here's an excerpt from a report on Bloomberg News:
“There have been discussions,” Eric Holoman, president of Los Angeles-based Magic Johnson Enterprises, said yesterday in an interview. “There’s no definitive agreement.” He declined to comment further.Hopefully Magic could turn things around at Ebony. They've been struggling over there for years . . .Johnson, 50, would fold the publisher into Magic Johnson Enterprises, said a person with knowledge of the discussions. The company he founded while a player with the Los Angeles Lakers has partnerships with Starbucks Corp., 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide Inc. and T.G.I. Friday’s Inc. Ad revenue at Ebony declined 38 percent to $35.5 million last year on a 39 percent drop in ad pages, according to Publishers Information Bureau.
Good for him, let him make that money wit his cured azz. *** hey lets start letting people in the clinics read them while they wait on there positive HIV/AIDS test to come back. Magic is thinking OUT of the box...Starbux..Movie Theatres,Banks...Now an established Magazine?.....He's Mogul Status,he's probably gonna hit one of the Affordable Car Dealorships next....I feel he's trying to make a difference in people's lives, and at the same time be a Successful Businessman...Not a better combination.
Clarkthink...coming at cha...alot of people prefer to read...who doesn't like a good magazine/newspaper when traveling?...businesses need reading material in waitin rooms etc.... Still need the Public phone when ya leave ya cell phone at home/lost/stolen..The newspaper stand will forever be in business.All he has to do is find a reason for the young to run and pick up a copy!
