Well the researchers from Improving Crime Data just finished up their info. And here are the UNLUCKY cities:

These lists are so misleading..If you live in Brooklyn (bigger than most cities on list by itself) or Bronx(same thing) then you laugh at these list. They count Manhattan, Staten island etc.. into the total number of people and it makes NYC look all glamourous and safe. Most of the murders go on in the Hood. If each borough was made into a city then they would always be on this list.. how much of NYC's 500 something murders every year occur in Manhattan and Staten Island?? exactly! Brooklyn Bronx Queens will never be on these lists no matter how bad it is because of how they count they stats!!

Don't be afraid of New Orleans. I've lived here all of my life and haven't had any problems. The entire city isn't dangerous. Most crime is either from drugs, gang feuds, or domestic abuse. People who aren't involved in those type of things really don't have to worry. But I do agree, yeah, the city had it's problems way before Katrina.

I find it disturbing that some people are LOOKING for their cities on this list. I live in Detroit, and it’s not easy. I don’t experience violence on a day to day basis but I do have to be on my P & Q’s… Only a young minded person with no knowledge of self and life would be offended because they weren’t listed. People lost their lives. Most likely, it was over nothing. Combine the fact that most of these cities probably suffer from high unemployment rates, and the fact that people are in a serious financial crisis… Starving, facing eviction, no transportation, poverty… You get crime. So it doesn’t surprise me to see these cities. People should start strategizing. Come up with a plan and stop waiting for the government to solve things for you. The money you have, regardless of the amount, determines who has the power. Where you put your money will determine where your money comes from. If I have somebody in my life that likes to go party, doesn’t pay their bills on time, and always asks to borrow money from different people… why would I ask them to hold my money for me? So if the banks, major corporations, and the government have shown that they aren’t the best at managing money… why would you give them your money? It’s easier said than done. But if I make one person aware of their spending habits, aware of WHERE they save their money, aware of WHAT their money is being used for, I’ve done my part. People have gotten complacent, and that’s dangerous.

It's amazes me how people are excited about their hometowns being no. 1. Black people it's time to stop the foolishness and try to stick together and accomplish what other cultures have over the years. As for the bitter Dallas and Houston folks, grow the HELL up. Geez people really need to stop bad mouthing New Orleans. Yeah we've been in a negative atmosphere for a while but we've bounced back better than ever. I love how people keep saying smack about how we "invaded" your cities during Hurricane Katrina and "we" were the reason why crime went up in your city. Hurricane katrina was almost FIVE YEARS ago....GET OVER IT! People in New Orleans don't even talk about it anymore and the only people who do are the folks that don't even live here. P.S. They calculate these statistics (Per- capita,) meaning the amount of people that live in the city, v.s the ratio to the amounts of actual murders.
Not the actual amounts of murders that occurred, that is why cities like New York didn't make the list. There are ten zillion people that live in New York, however the murder count is still quite high.

I'm from NYC happy to see that I live in a safe city...and nobody can't talk sideways about us. I knew MIA was gonna b on that list evrytime I vakay dwn there I hear about people being killed. I also vakayed in DC...*** maybe I need to stay home in NYC where its safe hahahaha. But on a serious note isn't Bmore and DC like right next 2 each other? I was born and raised in Detroit, I still live here now, and it's not what y'all are making it out to be. Detroit is a big city so of course the numbers are going to be higher than other places, but if you look at ratio it is about the same as any other urban city in America.
