Yesterday, during a Boys and Girls Club Conference, Nas atold a room full of kids that he didn't finish high school. But, according to Nas, he is currently studying to get his G.E.D. And he encouraged them to stay in school, saying, "The reality of it is, you need to keep educating yourself and I wish I had stayed in school."

You only have a small window to stuff as much knowledge and information in your brain while it's young and permeable. Not saying you can later in life, but if you miss that finite opportunity to 'get it in', it's more difficult to discipline your mind for studying later. So take notes young people. Being educated doesn't mean you are smarter. It means you have retain more knowledge. And because a person has retain a lot of knowledge does not mean they're any smarter then someone who hasn't. We all are capable of learning. Maybe some of us learn faster, know more, or see things differently but we all have a brain which can store information. Some choose not to learn, this what makes you ignorant. It doesn't mean you are though.

People get pieces of paper (diplomas, degrees, certificates, etc) to prove something, Nas has nothing to prove to US as he's accomplished what we all all search for in obtaining those pieces of paper...SUCCESS...those speaking on the value of an education obviously DON'T know the value of one at all as Nas is definitely educated and his genius is definitely unlocked.

These foreigners come to America with less than an elementary education relatively speaking yet they own most of our real estate, treat most of our illnesses and even TEACH in most of our colleges. They got that piece of paper to be approved but I am confident without a shadow of a doubt that they could practice their trade without that paper.
What makes Nas any different. Not disrespect to David Banner but he has a Master's degree and at least in the trade they share hands down Nas comes across to the listener as the artist far more intelligent.
I'm sure nobody from MTO graduated H.S. I personally believe education is the route. Its not about getting a piece of paper. Its about growth and knowledge gain that accentuates what is actually in your head. College isn't for everyone but HS is IMO. NAS is a special case. I know that you need a high school diploma - and nowadays - a college degree - but this does not prove the man is ignorant!!! Byt no means !!
