This would never happen to a white student. Did she not start to use force? So of course they had to use force back. She wouldn't have let them put the hand cuffs on when she was standing up so she had to go down.
She talked way too much and if you have a problem with something, talk to the instructor/professor after class. Don't waste everyones time - I wouldn't be too happy if she was lengthening the time of my lecture because she had a problem with something.

She's outspoken,that stirs fear in some people.The teacher I feel doesn't have the proper reasoning skills for an educational environment.Adults have to be coaxed more than children at times.If she had used a different tactic concerning the answer maybe the girl would have understood her mistake. But the teachers was challenged on her knowledge and she had decided she'd been embarrassed enough,she called campus police becoz they have already discussed(staff) how this type of incident(ie cussing,combative) would be handled!(aggressively).
They were both wrong. The teacher was wrong because she kept arguing with the girl. As a person of a higher authority you never argue with anyone. You tell them in a respectful way what you want them to do and keep it movin. As a student she had two choices, either do what she is told or drop the class and take it again somewhere else.
Both of them kept pushing it, the girl and the teacher. Girlfriend shoulda kept her eyes on the prize (eyesotp) and realized that her goal was to go to class, get the grade, and get on to the next thing.

She 100% wholeheartedly deserved what she got. We all know some of the stories that come out about schools ***, fights and ETC. This was at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I AM a student and I just so happen to be in that class as well.
Sometimes these teachers can GET out of hand, but this time it was all her. The TA (Teahers Assistant) DID say come to her office AFTER class if you had any questions or comments about your geade. But home girl WASNT feeling that. lol. She was out of line for throwing the water bottle.. This is NOT a race issue. It's a security issue.

There is something called RIGHTS! First of all there was no need for the police's intervention (from what i got on the tape), secondly the handcuffs were not necessary. And she then asked the question in reference to the wording of the question which was posed on the paper. now why did the 'instructor' still allow the police to come in?

seems like the problem arose from an argument between the student and the instructor about a question being specific or vague. that is perfectly fine in a learning environment. what clearly became the problem based on the video is how the student unprofessionally handled the situation. clearly she had the same argument with 2 other students that she identified on the vido including 'the ***' on her left and the other person on her right that she had told to "*** the *** up". now as an instructor you cannot loose control of the class and you are supposed to maintain order. call the cops!

The student handled the situation all wrong. If she had an issue with the teacher, she should have done what the teacher suggested or went to an higher authority. In professional settings, you have to handle situations professionally because there are consequences. Now student is possibly kicked out the class the whole semester while the teacher is still collecting a check.

White police officers are constantly using excessive force on minorities. You don't body slam a female and place your knee in her back, especially if she was unarmed.

The student did not respect the teacher because the teacher was purposely edging her on and the student was removed because she wouldn't quit runnin' her mouth. EXACTLY. The teacher got what she asked for because she was no better then the student. The only difference here was the tone of the teacher but she was still arguing. However we make the mistake by feedin' into the mess because we as race tend to be very emotional and this always make us look the worst.
I am from Milwaukee and I actually attend UW-Milwaukee. To clear up some comments, it's not a technical school its a four year accredited university. Also the reason why the police were acting like this towards that girl is because there has been a lot of protest on campus about tuition spikes that have turned violent. As an African American student, this is extremely embarrassing however, it doesn't surprise me. Some people just really don't understand how to respectfully argue a point black and white alike.

Oh I have experienced teachers who talk crazy. When I was in school, teachers would gossip and do nasty things to sabotage students. Some were just as childish. Playing favorites and things like that. I did not experience it but I knew how to play the game. I was always respectful and even sent thank you notes to my teachers, even ones I didn't like, and I got mad letters of recommendation. They love that kind of stuff, but you have to know how to play the game. But it is a shame when teachers engage students in this type of behavior b/c they are there to teach.

First off let me say this....I'm a student and I'm not there to give the teacher word for word they have there educations I'm trying to get mine. When the teacher told her they would talk about it later she should of said ok and let it ride till the end of the class. Another thing these campus cops are not playing anymore especially after the Virginia Tech incident. So if they even think your being disorderly they will arrest you seriously. We dont know why she was mad, it could be any reason, but her reaction to the teacher and the police was the cause for her being arrested in that manner.Here is why: 1. She threatened physical violence or more than one person in the class( You don't hear anyone or see anyone threating her) 2. She was asked to leave and she said no( She could have easily just walked out, calmed down, and talked to the professor at another time) 3. The police gave a direct order to her and I bet if she had said "hey Im sorry I think I am being treated unfair by the professor" they would have escorted her out.

They aren't actual cops, they are campus police. They were also disciplined for their actions. I swear most of these comments are the reason why black people don't progress. As I stated before the reason why the excessive force was used, is because violence has been breaking out on the campus in the past few weeks. Arrest have been made etc. I live in Milwaukee WI and attend the school. Maybe you should focus on her actions instead of the color of her skin. One in particular was with some friends out at the club, and one of the girls (white) got into with her boyfriend (black), and when the cops stepped in, she was running her mouth and got slammed on the police car and taken to jail.. The boyfirend (black) went home with no charges.. So just cause it's the "norm" or whats put on tv for all to see, doesn't mean it's always the case..

Seeing as the teacher REFUSED to try and DIFFUSE the issue or at minimum send her to the dean's office. I myself would have walked away. She should have removed herself from the situation to avoid any further altercation.

While I don't know what the teacher said, or what the girl said to the other student, This WAS excessive force. He had his knee in the girl's back.... WHY? I agree with her about not leaving. If she was willing to be quiet WHY should she have had to leave? She paid to be there. Now unless the teacher is gonna reimburse her a prorated amount of her tuition for the class time missed then yeah. Otherwise hell NO! if she would have left when the professor kicked her out she could have gotten a full refund just because the professor wasn't proficient in teaching the class. all she had to do was go act like that at the schools presidents office. and they would have given her a refund even if she was on the last question of her finals. when the professor says go. no matter what the reasons they have to pay you back. but just because campus security had to haul her fat *** out she now gotta go to a disciplinary board. but she may be able to avoid expulsion with that tape.
