: We're sure that it was a very TRAUMATIC for Yaya to do it. . so we'll RESERVE judgment on it for now . . .

.....looks like a sew....hair is straighter at the tip than at the root....plus if it is her hair...i doubt she relaxed it....looks more like a DOMINICAN BLOWOUT....many naturals (like me)..go to the dominicans and get the hair blown out and straightened and it looks EVEN BETTER than a relaxer....her natural hair is GORGEOUS BTW....makes her STAND OUT....
OMG, she straightened her hair. She's such a sell out. Now no man will ever want her *** she will never b able to model. She sold her soul to the illuminati.(sarcasm) Some people on hear r crazy. Get real. Relaxed hair, natural hair... It ain't that serious. I live in da South *** due to the humidity, 99% of ALL women chemically alter their hair. Yes even the non blacks flat iron to control frizz. The white salons even have chemical straightners for white folks wot curly hair that last 4 months. Get over it people.
By the way, flat irons cause just as much damage as relaxers. Does it matter how a black woman straightens her hair? Some of u think because u use flat irons instead of chemicals that u r some how keepin it real *** not selling out???? By the way, I am one of those who strightens mt hair eit flat irons instead of relaxers, but it never occurred to me to feel morally superior to those who use relaxers or inferior to those eho don't straighten at all.
I hate it, she looked better with natural hair.
I remember I seen her on antm, and she stated that she would never get her hair pressed, permed, or put extensions in it because she didn't believe in trying to be something that she isn't.
I guess the hollywood pressure did get to her, whites want to mold us in their image. They got to her and made her throw all her beliefs out the window.
I don't think she used a relaxer. By the way it doesn't matter..it's her *** hair. I'm f*cking tired of this natural vs. relaxed hair debate. They're just dead cells. You do what you want to your hair. It's yours to deal with forget what everyone else thinks. If you want to put chemicals so be it. You deal with it. If you don't then that's great too. It's your choice.
Yummo, SupaMYLF, and TexasGlamourChic - agreed! (hope I spelt all the names right).
Having your hair natural does not make you "more black" then someone who relaxes their hair .. Unless the person said so - I'm pretty sure no one relaxes their hair so it can be like a white persons - that would be impossible anyway.
Straightening your hair isn't any better than relaxing it anway - that is if you're straightening it often.
@TexasGlamourChic
Actually it is the other way around,I have a home girl that is natural and the permed up sistas are the ones that hate on her, they call her buckwheat, and they throw coins at her like she is homeless. They are constantly insulting her and trying to get her to conform to the permed up ***.
Sistas that perm, and wear weaves are always hating on the real natural sistas.
IF they enjoy putting sodium hydroxide in their scalps like *** idiots they need to do that on their on time, stop hating on natural sistas.
I have no problem with permed up sistas, but they just need to be honest and say that she hate their god given hair. Stop using the versatile excuse also.
If you are perming and wearing eurocentric weaves 365 days a yrs then you are not versatile, sorry.
I fu.cking hate those permed up bytches, they stay talking *** about my home girl. That really *** me off. If I was a chick I would of knocked their azzes out a long time ago, I'm a dude and I don't hit girls so their azzes are very lucky.
@SupaMYLF
Dumb bytch can you read? I said that if I was a female I would of laid those bytches out for constantly insulting one of my close friends because she chooses to embrace her god given hair.
I honestly don't give a *** about permed up sistas,they just need to stop insulting the natural sistas.
@Manifest... ...."Dumb Bytch"?!?...Hardly, but when you say it don't forget to add the ESQUIRE, lightweight...I "peeped" your game a long time ago Mr. "Pro-black man"...One minute you talk about how you "hate all African-American sisters" and the next you're singing their praises...Google the word "hypocrite," lightweight...And for the record, I wore my hair "natural" for years...I am still the same CONSCIOUS SISTER, with or without the relaxer...
I keep telling Fred that the EMOTIONALLY WOUNDED should not be allowed to post...
lmao MTO is so *** stupid. You don't have to get a relaxer to have straight hair. There's a lot of people who are natural that wear their hair straight every now and then. I know I do. See that's what people led black people to believe. Did you see how African American people hair was in the 70s? It was beautiful they just let people tell them it wasn't. Learn about hair care before you start making accusations about people.
I have natural hair and I can press and curl my hair to the point that people assume that I have a relaxer/perm.....MTO stop putting black folks back into the 50s. Our hair is "good" enough to straighten out like that without chemicals....obviously (i'm hoping) a black man did this article because I can't believe that a black woman could be so twisted in the head to fall into the Eurocentric ideas about black hair!
Focus Nnamdi if you watched the show you'd remember "your girl" got called out for being so self Righteous when she was born and Raised in Harlem. If she was ***, Beautiful but she's not so if you need a reason to fly your flag do it without disrespect, you simple Broad. I'll be redundant and say it doesn't look like a RELAXER and likely isn't. I prefer when she's rok'*** her natural but as long as you don't change your hair becuase of indoctrinated racism and self hate then do what you do...however you did it
he benefit of natural hair is that when you WANT to play it straight, with the right styling products, you can--and because its been in a natural state--no daily heat applied, no Naomi edges, when it is straightened occaionally, it looks healthy!
*sigh* when Yaya was on ANTM, 6 people I know called to tell me that she reminded them of me *ha! i wish--lol*- many many moons ago maybe. lol
Anyway MTO'ers, I am noticing a trend with progressive looking brothers in the fine city of NY. Ive seen quite a few of them with brown, naturally coiffed chicks on their arms.....hhhhmmmmmnnnn
Bring back the soul, sisters......thats what WE GOT, use it.
...NEWSFLASH: whether you straighten your hair by permanent relaxed, thermal press, hot comb, flat iron or texturizer you are STILL ALTERING the natural state of your curly/kinky hair!! All of these processes cause damage to natural hair to some extent...Get over it and drop the SUPERIORITY COMPLEX...SMDH!
