That's why I LOVE Mary...she is the truth...Mary is a Music Icon...she leads the pack hands down...Mary admitted years ago that she did not have her GED, however she was always and still is pro education...I like that, it's a real good look...hopefully the rest of the Black entertainers will stand and take notice...because some of them just look like idiots all up on TV sounding illiterate when they're being interviewed...Beyonce is one of them I'm referring to...every time she's asked a question she look like a dayum deer in the headlights...
I'm happy for her. This is a great example of how education should be important and taken seriously. Yes, she found fame and success, most would of just stopped there. But she is going to challenge herself in something else than something we all know she can do(sing). And to ibadd, better late than never. I see some of yall are dumb as hell. Mary got accepted to Howard, that's one of the TOP universities in the U.S. Some of yall didn't make it past the 8th grade and it shows. She makes me proud to be studying for my bachelors. It doesn't matter how old she is. Studies show those who continue education throughout life live longer. So I guess while people who are still getting their education are living, you brainless fools will be dropping like flies.

@It'sTooMuch Actually there are a lot of older adults at Howard who are getting their education late for a variety of reasons.
Howard is one of the TOP schools in the country. Just because some of you all can't afford to go or weren't smart enough to get in doesn't mean you should hate. Look around at all the prominent African- Americans making a name for themselves in politics, entertainment, sports, etc, and you'll see the majority are Howard Alumni. Hate all you want but your rinky-*** community college or no-name HBCU degrees don't hold a paper weight to ours. BOOM.

One of my best friends grad. fr. there with a degree in journalism. She enjoyed her scholastic experience there very much "Rock solid snitches"....hmph. Well since y'all know so much, what is studying/major? Anyways I'm happy for her. I hope she does well & enjoys herself & I hope no one tries to exploit her while there because of who she is.

@ hotsauce, its more of a self-satisfaction for her. To some, fame and fortune might be the only thing someone needs. But this could of been a lifelong goal for her, no matter how small of a priority it may seem like. Fantasia is hot right now. Good music and a good show. She didnt get her GED she got an Honorary Diploma, which basically means she was too stupid to pass the GED but since she is rich she probably made a generous donation and got it, and since colleges are hard up for publicity Howard U let her in and in the process cut someone who did earn his or her own way into that college...way to go mary

It is the only reason why I too believe she was accepted but nonetheless congratulation to her b/c It's never too late to achieve a GED/Degree. Keep up the good work Mary.
No disrespect but Howard is not one of the best colleges in the US. It might be one of the best HBCU but never would it match up to an Ivy League school. I'm a graduate from PSU and I know Howard don't have nothing on us! But that's just my opinion...That's to the girl that made that *** Howard is greater than comment.
