@ MsCheeks84 i know exactly what show that's from & i'm sure others do too, but that was not the point. the point is that a *** full head weave is not cool for a 3 yo baby. those pageants are pathetic & it's not cute that ALL those little girls are made to look too grown before their time. they look crazy & the low rent moms living vicariously through their daughters is insane. let those children be children for as long as they can.
I saw this pageant show on TV and ALL those white girls had weaves too. So tell the whole story.
I did think it was funny they only embarassed the black girl by showing her actually getting tracks put in. But in the past, I've seen video of the white girls getting the tracks in too.
Anyway, the other chicks, SPRAY TAN their toddlers and preteens and WAX THEIR EYEBROWS.
It is CRAZY! I don't think it's acceptable for little girls in real life to have weaves.
However, pageant culture is truly the TWILIGHT ZONE.
I don't care what it was for, I hate these d*mn mothers trying to live vicariously through their children. It makes no d*mn sense to put a weave in this babies hair. What are we teaching our children. No child should have to endure spray tans, fake teeth or hair for some pageant. What are we teaching our children, mothers? Teach them to love whom God made them. I disagree with you. What the mother should be doing is teaching her child that she is beautiful the way she is. Just because someone's a mother does not give them the right to "do what they want with their child." There are some idiot mothers and fathers that don't have two decent brain cells to run together; someone *** have kids at all.
Atleaset the braids are not small. Thoses braids were pretty big and loose. Infact, her hairline wasn't even braided up at all. It seemed like the worst part if it for the little girl was taking out her ponytail holder and combing through the kinks. That's a reality all little girls who dont have a relaxer, wether their hair is very kinky or very curly. So I say people are over reacting a little bit.
Young children should not be participating in these pageants at all, but if the parents decide to let their children do so then make up, weaves, false eye lashes, fake tans, and hair dyeing is a part of these competitions, if you expect to win anything. White mothers, Asians mothers, Hispanic mothers all do the same thing in these pageants.
It's for a pageant. As you can see, the mom is doing that to keep from putting any chemicals in the little one's natural hair. Yeah, she could've rocked two afro puffs and still would've been adorable but just as some of the others have said, it's done in pageants by many different ethnicities to accentuate their cuteness. (Totally aesthetic approach) I get it. She looked beautiful!
Why people put weave in their daughters hair for pagents too! No, it's not okay for black girls because it doesn't even look like her hair. I know a lot of women claim its okay that black women wear weaves since other women wear it, but it's painfully obvious that it's fake on black women so, yeah...just makes us look dumb as hell. And, it creates a terrible image for girls to believe it makes them look better with a hair type that's not their own natural hair. Sorry she can't teach her baby to develop self esteem at such a young age she's making her into a doll.

It will overall damage their self-esteem because now as they get older they will feel as if their beauty is somehow tethered to their outward appearance, which is the worst thing you can have as the basis of your self-esteem and self-worth, because when you yank THAT away, there goes your self-esteem, HORRIBLE. No different than ppl who anchor their self-esteem/worth to their titles (i.e. ppl who insist on being called DR,not out of respect but out of fear that they are less than without that title.)
if anyone knew better they would know it is for a pageant and that is just part of it. it isnt a shame that she is putting in the weave. it is more so messed up that the pageants are set up that way. I can guarentee you that the hair is no where near as bad as the make up that they put on them children. Its one thing to apply a decent length of hair, but to apply about18 additional years to a 3yr olds face through make up is ridiculous

That clip is from Toddlers in Tiaras which is about pageant kids and on the show EVERY kid of ANY RACE wears weave. Its a *** beauty pageant its not ghetto its part of the look theyre going for so unless you're gonna put up the with girls with clip ins and fake lashes and ponytails leave that little girl alone.

Whites may use weaves but they are using a weave that matches the same texture as their natural hair. Notice how the child hair looked in the beginning and how it looked by the end. The mother felt if she didn't alter the child's hair, she wouldn't be able to compete and this reflects how the mother feel about her child's hair IMO.
Its for a pageant and white kids do it too, they even wear flippers so their teeth look nice and so you cant tell theyre missing any... This isnt new... If she was just putting it there so the child would feel better about herself then that would b a problem but she just wants to look pretty for her pics and show so I dont see anything wrong... First off this is Toddlers and Tiara's , which is a show that completely revolves around the most ridiculous amounts of make up and hair extentions on kids as little as 2 years old. It's just for a pageant! It's not like she was preparing the little girl for her first day of school doing it. The white people wax their babies eyebrows and let them wear wigs and dentures, so what's the difference?
This title and context is misleading, you gave the impression the woman was normally grooming her child with hair weave. For child beauty pageants they all add hair extensions, it is totally different. You're basically asking if the entire process and costume for entering child pageants is wrong, which is a completely different point of view. It also doesn't look like she's perming the girls hair either, so to braid it back and put hair on top does significantly less damage than those out there that perm their toddlers hair so it can fit in those extra tight ponytails.
Anyway, the little girl however, is such a pretty little thing. I hope she won.
