I have been a long-time reader of MTO but I am becoming increasingly alarmed by the daily self-hating comments written by the MTO editors. It seems anything that is innate to African - of which "urban" people are descended - is branded negatively. Dark skin is referred to as ugly, unfortunate, ashy and a host of other ugly metaphors. And those that are dark skinned are said to look like monkeys, baboons or apes. Now, a larger bridge on a nose is said to look like a ***? Needs to be surgically corrected to look more like a European nose? Not only are these comments ignorant...
the self hate is embarassing. I'm certain your white readers are smiling in satisfaction that we African-Americans are re-asserting that Whites are the standard all humanity should strive for. I thought MTO was owned by an African man? Fred do you have any idea you have people like DominRican spewing hateful racist messages to the black readership? Telling black women we are inferior if our skin color or hair texture is closer to African than white? This is really madness. Stop the hate MTO - you owe it to your readership - that is, if you truly value us and not just the $$$ we are making for you.
