Beyonce stopped perming her hair in 1998/99 then she started wearing braids to allow the perm to grow out without having to cut all her hair off.

It's not a law that black women perm their hair. That's why Beyonce has been wearing curly/kinky extensions a lot recently because that's about the real texture of her hair when she doesn't straighten it. She straightens her hair with heat, not a perm anymore. Beyonce's hair looks great. Those are hair extensions because these pictures are old, and Beyonce was wearing her hair like this right before she left for Australia and when she first got there. You could see her natural scalp in the part.
A lot of women should take note if you ask me you should only perm your hair once every 90 days if you have a great stylist like me. Between the perms and Koreans selling fake hair to you dumb heffas still wearing weaves it’s a wonder why there are so many bald head black women walking around, at least Bey has some hair. There is a Korean chick in Bk that was on the news beefing about her Bentley she just brought because it was something wrong with the carpet and turns out this *** owns a hair supply store in BK... Beyonce hair looks nice. She is smart to alternate between wearing her real hair, extensions and wigs. That's what most women in the entertainment industry do to protect their real hair, regardless of race or ethnic group. Everybody from Angelina Jolie to Jennifer Lopez do the same thing. That's why when Beyonce shows her real hair on a lot of behind the scenes footage her real hair is healthy and long. That's why when she wore her real hair out to the one of the Cadillac Records premiere her real hair was pretty.
Beyonce looks good and her hair do, too. I'm sorry to break it to you ladies, but Beyonce does wear weave, wigs and her natural hair. She isn't always wearing a wig like some of you like to claim. That's like saying because Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian or Gwen Stefani wears wigs all the time, just because they do sometimes.
Her hair looks great to me. These are extensions. Beyonce does alternate between wearing extensions and wigs. She went from wearing straight extensions to curly extensions for the last few months. She might get a wig that looks similar to the extensions to give her hair a break from the extensions. That's how you keep less tension off your hair all the time. The non-black girls do it, too. Beyonce's real is nice also, probably because she doesn't sit up there and overprocess it.
Bey does not perm her hair anymore. She hasn't had a perm since her early destiny child days. She gets her roots pressed. She also alternates between custom lace fronts and weaves.
