I've been browsing MTO for a while now and I HAD to register and say something about this article. I can not believe MTO would stoop this low. I might as well buy an Enquirer, or a Globe. If you are going to be a "tabloid" please warn the real readers that like to frequent your site daily. Ok,historically, native americans lived in what was later named louisiana by europeans in around the 1500's. The region was named after a french King Louis XIV. The term creole was orginally used to describe FULL BLOODED EUROPEAN AND SPANISH colonial settlers that were born in louisiana. Creole is not a race. Enslaved blacks, off spring of africans began to be refered to as creole due to the growing population and because they were also born in louisiana. This had absolutely nothing with skin complexion. European and spanish settlers mixed with enslaved african men and women and made a third class of people:mixed creoles(PEOPLE OF COLOR). African slave women were often kept as mistresses to european french and spanish men, sadly, but that's our history and heritage. The ancestry of africans is solely the reason for the creation this class of mixed creole people.
