: MediaTakeOut.com learned that Halle Berry's estranged half sister Renee is talking to British Tabloids. Here's what she told Britian's Daily Mail:
Renee is the daughter of 44-year-old Halle's late African-American father Jerome and Edwina Taylor - who broke up with him shortly before he started dating the actress' mother Judith Hawkins. Although Jerome and Judith split up when Halle was just four years old, Renee remained 'very close' to the future Hollywood star while they were growing up - despite cutting herself off from her father after the divorce.Renee told the Daily Mirror: 'I’m sad to say it seems like she does not want anything to do with us. I have not spoken to her in about five years.
I tried to contact her through her website, to congratulate her on her Oscar, but no one got back to me.
'We would love to meet Nahla. We are desperate to understand why Halle is so upset, why she feels she cannot be with us.'
In interviews over the years, Halle has alleged Jerome was a violent alcoholic who beat her mother Judith in front of her and sister Heidi.
In an interview two years ago, Halle said: 'I saw my mother battered, and could not do anything to stop it.
'My father was tyrannical, lashing out at her for no reason. I felt the effects that had on our family - I’ve experienced what these women have gone through.'
Renee claims Halle was angry with her when she made a public plea to visit Jerome when he was dying from Parkinson's Disease.
Despite Halle's negative memories of her childhood with Jerome, Renee paints a very different picture of their father as a 'good man'.
She said: 'My father never beat any of us. He would spank us from time to time, but he never abused us. He liked a drink or two, like anyone else does, but he was not an alcoholic.'
What sticks out MOST in this story is Halle's ORIGINAL nose. For years she has denied a nose job even going as far to say Eric Benet wrongly believed she'd had one. This old pic removes all doubt. I'm a hardworking educated black woman and I've cut off a great deal of contact with my family members as well. The problem is when you've made it and everyone else is still poor they always feel like you owe them something. They want you to loan or give them large sums of money when they make mistakes, and they complain about their lives to you as if you owe them to make things even. Sometimes, that's the way it is and if her sister really cared about her she'd try to contact her through other means not the media or a *** website. GET the f*ck out of here!
And for the record we live comfortably and she is not wanted for money. My Aunt didnt get famous this year. She has been a "celeb" for several years and wasnt taking care of us and we dont want her to now, we good! But whats wrong with communication? OH Stop It...Halle is always in Cleveland, My mom grew up with her. They both went to bedford highschool. My mom lives in Solon and my said everyone is always trying to throw her under the bus but Halle is always in Ohio because her mom is still here. She might not visit Cleveland, Ohio but her mom lives in Avon Lake someone, I believe and she is always in town visiting her mom and her family. So don't say that. It might not be her dads'said of the family but I know she is always in town.

I had to address this person claiming to be Halle's family member. You don't choose your family. Race aside, we dont know the full extent of the story. Maybe her sister did her dirty or.. -as some black family can get once one of them break it big in show business- her black side might have been asking for money. WHo knows. often times children, especially black children, dont have much to do with the paternal side of the family which is almost always the fathers fault. iif he was a great spouse and father, they wouldnt have to deal with halle not wanting to spend time with them. its even more awkward after the father passes. my dad passed in 2003, ive only seen his relatives twice since then. its only a black and white thing since halles black and white smh.

I have read all of these comments and i just dont know what to say. First of all non of this was for money. My mom confided in one person and they went to the tabloids. We are not looking for hand outs. Now whatever my grandfather done may not have been right but its not all of his family. My aunt was fine and noone was asking her for money. This story came from another site,but Halle does not have to have a relationship with any half brothers or sisters that her absent father went around producing. It's the parents job to bring their children together while they are growing up and teach them unity and love if that's what they expect from them,but once she became this wealthy celebrity they probably all expected her to support them and you can't blame her for not wanting that responsibility.

rareessynce79, if you are Halle's niece, I can sympathise with your situation. Every family has those who feel they must distance themselves from others in the family for whatever reason. You may never find out the reason, it may have more to do with your Aunt herself and her psychological and emotional issues than it does with anything your Mom did, but don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out. Your family has reached out and tried to communicate, and that's all they can really do. Live your life, love your Aunt and try to have understanding for her, and ignore the MTO insults.

I was an EXTRA in the movie BOOMERANG with Halle, Robin Givens, Eddie Murphy, etc. I was sitting on the floor inside the World Financial Building where we were filming the movie and Halle walked right by me and did a double-take after she passed me!!! I couldn't believe it! She was smiling and flirting with me. I will never forget this moment the longest day I live. I think I'm going to marry her... :-)
