Everybody doesn't have the money to throw lavish parties like MTO wants it. At least the lil *** has family who recognizes her b'day. First of all.. It's better than NO party. At least that little girl is feeling loved. Secondly, that's not a pony for the party. That's a arabber and they sell fresh fruit in the hood. Most of the time that the only time people in the hood see or get fresh fruit outside of school. B-more is an armpit and I can say that because I lived there for years. It's the hater capital of the middle east and I don't understand how it can be so lame considering its between NYC and Wash DC (then again PHilly is wack like bmore to). at least she got a party.....when I was growing up...I never had a party on my birthday...my birthday is June 30th....My brother's was June 26, and my baby sister's was August 9th...We used to have to wait til Augus to have our party....I love my birthday and I think every child should have a party...I might just start a company that helps parents give their child a birthday party if they can't afford one..

I'm actually ashamed at the responses here. There are people in the world who can't afford much, but try to do the best with what they have. I have been to parties in "the ghetto" and as long as you have your friends and family... there really isn't anything wrong with this picture. Although I'm glad the girl had a party despite where it is, it's sad to see this and it actually brought a tear to my eye.
No one in the US should be living at or below the poverty line. And it's sad how our government is quick to help suffering people in other countries, but snail-pace slow to help suffering people in our own country.

OK being from Baltimore Yes this is the hood Obviously. Majority of the people R poor. this pic is 1 of the lower income communities & 1 of the most dangerous. They could be doing something else.
