: It's finally over. MediaTakeOut.com received word yesterday that Bishop Eddie Long and his FOUR accusers had agreed to SETTLE their sex discrimination claims. Here's how the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting it:
Attorneys involved in the four lawsuits against Long, the LongFellows Youth Academy and the 25,000-member Lithonia megachurch said the case had been settled but declined to comment further. The case is expected to be dismissed "with prejudice" -- meaning the defendant cannot be sued by the plaintiffs again in the same alleged offense -- by close of business Friday, said Barbara Marschalk, who represents New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and LongFellows Youth Academy.Now what you're all wondering . . . HOW MUCH. Well OFFICIALLY no one is talking. But a little BIRDIE tells MediaTakeOut.com that the boys will split approximately $15 MILLION between them.B.J. Bernstein, who represents the four men who sued Long, New Birth and the academy, also confirmed the lawsuits had been settled. The academy was named in three of the suits.
Long, pastor of the Lithonia megachurch, which has an international following, had denied the men's allegations through a spokesman shortly after they first became public in September and told his congregation he planned to "vigorously" fight them.
The accusations made against Long by Anthony Flagg, Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris and Maurice Robinson alleged that the bishop used his influence, trips, gifts and jobs to coerce them into sexual relations.
In one lawsuit, LeGrande said when he was 15 he and his mother were among the early members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte. When he was 16, he said, he went to Kenya with Long. Then when he was 17, they went on another trip to Kenya, and it was then that they had intimate relations, one of the suits alleged.
And it gets better. Remember TWO WEEKS AGO when settlement talks BROKE DOWN. That's because Bishop Long wanted the boys to release a statement saying that Eddie DID NOTHING WRONG . . . and the boys REFUSED. So now Eddie is NOT ALLOWED (under the settlement) to say the boys are lying.
This is very SAD, now we'll NEVER know the TRUTH. Cause if Pastor Long is a PEDOPHILE, like they suggest, that case needed to be brought to trial. On the OTHER HAND, if he's INNOCENT . . . that needs to come out TOO!!
That's how you know it's all about money and not about the crime. He could be in jail and they could've still got the same amount of money in damages....Makes me question the whole thing...
In Hollywood, sometimes the easist thing to do is settle so that your image isn't dragged out. I don't know if he did it or not, but when people say, "we'll forget everything for this amount of money" that throws up a red flag to me...It's not like this was a car accident, this was alleged secual molestation....If I could find the person who raped me at 12, He could offer me 20 million dollars and I wouldn't take it unless it was in damages after they sentenced him to prison...Money cannot erase the pain I've experienced as a result of that rape.....

This case was not criminal because the legal age of sexual consent in GA is 16. However, there was clearly a case for a civil suit or the charges would have been dropped. At 16-17, you are not a legal adult...hence potential civil trial. Anyone familiar with legal matters knows that you don't settle if there is a chance that you will win the trial or if there is guilt involved...that is all.
Keep in mind this was their PASTOR, with THOUSANDS of congregants. DONT YOU THINK THEY WOULD BE AFRAID TO INITIALLY SPEAK OUT EVEN AS 16 YEAR OLD YOUNG MEN? Eddie Long had a role of POWER over these boys, and he used it to his advantage!
