According to a family friend, Steve and his ex-wife Mary Harvey are in the midst of a LEGAL BATTLE about the CUSTODY AGREEMENT they made for their son Wynton. In the past, Mary AGREED to give Steve primary custody of their son. But Mary now feels that she is NOT BEING ALLOWED ANY VISITATION.
The visitation, along with other matters, was SUPPOSED to be dealt with during a MARCH court date. But Mary was UNABLE to attend a court date. Now any REASONABLE person would just RESCHEDULE the date - right? Well not Steve Harvey.
As the below papers EXPLICITLY show, Steve and his attorneys requested a "Motion For Enforcement." And they got the court to issue an ARREST WARRANT against Mary. Mary - who is a 50 year old mother, was TAKEN INTO CUSTODY in Los Angeles yesterday.

MTO has a bad habit of telling only PART of the story. Does Steve have the power to have his ex arrested? Did she violate a court order? Was it the judge who ordered her arrest? Had she missed several court dates? On the other hand, IF Steve told the court that he wanted her arrested and the court agreed, then all I have to say to Steve is, "Man, this is the mother of your young son".

It's court and that's a bench warrant for failure to appear. The attorney just signed the ***. If he didn't who to say there's some other kinda stipulations if he didn't sign would mess Steve up. I've never heard of a Judge issuing an arrest warrant in a civil case such as this unless the other party is pushing for it. She must have missed more than 1 court date, and I'm hoping she didn't purposely miss it, especially if she's truly trying to see her son. steve didn't have her arrested, the court did, and that's their job. if you are served and fail to appear, it's a violation, and the violation for missing the court dates (2 of them) is automatic pick em up and lock em up. now if she didn't show just because she said f.uck it, then she got what she deserved. not a big fan of Steve Harvey in this situation, but Mary did this *** to herself. she should have showed up and gotten it over with

As for Mary, it was her counsels responsibility to request an adjournment and if she didn't have counsel then she should have come into court with an indigent claim so that counsel would be appointed to her and still possibly got an adjournment until counsel was briefed on the matter.

It's true the judge signed the order, but it probably would not have been issued had Steve Harvey and his attorneys not presented it to the judge. There was a better way to handle this and an order with a $5,000 bond is just plain vindictive. What an example for his son.

@Kanga...I understand what you're saying, BUT...wouldn't it be fair to use the same analogy (i.e., its up to the judge to be fair or to be biased (pro women/anti men), and not up to the woman standing before the judge and is favored)? Hopefully I asked that right...
Judges don't always rule according to the letter of the law -- which they should; some judges impose their personal opinion (spoken/unspoken) when ruling. May not be the judge favoring women, may be that judge isn't following what the law states in a matter.

Steve Harvey is a PROFESSIONAL ENTERTAINER with contract obligations and performance dates that must be kept (or you get sued): He does NOT have the time for, nor can he afford perpetual court dates. If you sue over custody-- SHOW UP. I've known men who were force to pay support for kids that were not even theirs because they merely showed up to court LATE.
