Graduating from college for some people(regardless of the field of study)really is a success story, for if they had not chosen to focus on something good, they probably would have focus on something bad, which may have led to their demise.
The important thing to take note concerning this young lady is that she believed in herself and went and got some type of paper that will give her a chance to make more money than she makes serving drinks at the coffee shop--think positively not negatively.

no most ppl with degrees like hospitality DO end up serving drinks at coffee shops because their degrees are worthless and the market is over saturated with folks like them. they are literally a dime in dozen whether just graduating from college is a success story is debatable. for me someone just graduating from college isnt that impressive. What impresses me is what they studied in college, how well they did and how practical it is for the real world or continuing studies. just because you went to college for knittingand you graduated doesnt mean anything to me.
@Dopemcee To be honest, in this day in age and the ones to come, a lot of degrees will be nothing. There are a lot of people with power positions losing them due to the economy or some other reason. I hear that there are a lot of people with technical degrees in the unemployment line or working at coffee shops. The point is this: The young lady thought enough of herself to go out and get one of those free degrees, which many people do not have the sense to go grab. It's good that God put a lot of people on earth who will congratulate and motivate her instead of expecting you to do so.

A college education is bad? Experience can only get you so far. I work in corporate, those of us with the most education get the highest raises. I've seen people with twenty years of experience get passed over for twenty-somethings that just graduated. That's what happened when I applied. The only working experience i had was eight years at target, cart attendant and supervisor. Don't let these under achievers discourage you.
Im sure your dad did well. Back then a college education wasn't needed. Im not saying going to college makes me better or that anyone who doesn't go is under achiever. My problem is people talking badly about people who do or the idea of going. People like that usually don't do much in life. If Im spending hard earned money i prefer that its spent on a person who knows what they're doing off bat.

I hear what you're saying,and I do believe education is a necessity in this world, but the way you were pumping this chick up because she has a "Hotel Management" degree and any other girl who doesn't - well - there are plenty of degreed young people out here with no jobs...just like others who have degrees. @ dopemcee fyi Krystal and I were in the same major and had classes together and I will have you know that it required just as many hours of study as a business or education degree. Also the field which we choose to go into is in need of trained individuals and one of the easiest fields for you to own your own business. As others have stated it just seems as if you have a chip on your shoulder about college and maybe you should address those issues instead of bashing someone you know nothing about and belittling the hard work that those of us with degrees put in to earn them.
