@mzuri... Usually I don't post anything on these forums, but I couldn't help it in this case. I happen to be an African American male. I am originally from Bronx, NY but reside in Georgia. I'm well versed and well traveled. I served in the United States Army for eight years and have been steadily employed for the past five years. I am currently an Instructor. I train military and civilian personnel on Information Technology matters and specialize in the field of Information Assurance. I have two children whom I love and cherish very much and stay with me when I am not traveling for my job.
@mzuri, I said all of that to say this: It is rather depressing for women of color to continue to *** their male counterparts. I agree, a subset of our population does engage in less than savory practices, but to lump all African American males into the same category is dangerous and shows a lack of pride and understanding of your own culture. It pains me to no end to not only have to battle with the lack of respect from other races, but to have to hear from those that look like me is disingenuous at best.
@mzuri, I don't have a problem with individuals that date outside of their race or that like to explore their options, but people should do so for the right reasons. It's unfortunate that your experience with African American males has not been a fulfilling one, but I assure you that no race on Earth owns the rights to being anything close to being perfect. Negativity and ignorance is something that transcends color. It is a pervasive human condition that can only be quelled by educating one's self and uplifting those around them rather than putting them down.

Having a college degree, walking on catwalks and traveling the world doesn't make a person any better. All it says is that you have a degree, you've walked on a catwalk and have traveled the world. It says nothing about the content of a person's character. I can do all of those things bet still be, for lack of a better word, an ***. And being bitter doesn't necessarily equate to someone having to be unattractive or treated a certain way; being bitter can also mean somebody is intensely unpleasant or have an intense amount of animosity (for whatever reasons).
It's easy for some, and when I say some I mean a very small segment, of black women to feel as if all black men ogle or fantasize with being with "white women" or any other woman that it is not black, but I hate to be the bearer of truth, we all don't. There exists many among us that want to do nothing but be with a decent and well rounded sister and raise decent and well rounded children, but the reality is many of us, male and female alike, don't even know what decent really is anymore.

What has happened is that people's standards, morally and socially, have become lower or have been forsaken altogether. So what was once "decent" is now seen as settling but in reality what people consider or passes for "decent" these days is unattainable. Decency is having self-respect and self-discipline; doing the right thing regardless of what others may believe. Making an honest living doing and/or doing something that one enjoys doing.
I dont know what happened to my last post but I'll try again. Word on the streets in Miami is that Dwyane and Gaby are in fact on a break but are trying to work things out. I guess thats why neither of them flat out address the break up. They dodged that one. but they both took the time to make comments on the false rumor about his stylist in Milan.
Dwyane has been seen up and down Miami spending time with some exotic white girl with dark hair for past couple of months. Rumor round these parts is that is his new flame.

What I find disheartening is the blind support of misguided commentary and principles that pervades the black community. That somehow being a strong black woman means that you have to argue with people and always be right. My mother is a strong black woman who has never made me or my father feel like anything less than strong black men, regardless of any deficiencies or *** I may have had.
And one last thing, how "classy" is it for someone to talk about how ugly and uneducated another person, or group of individuals is? To say such things would be acting just as ignorant as the persons you are speaking of. Ignorance only begets begets ignorance, no matter how "well spoken" people find an argument.

I don't let every little thing bother me, nor does every comment deserve attention. But I just happen to have those comments and disagreed with them. I'm not passing judgment against anybody, but I judging the comments based on solely on the content and not levying any personal attacks.
I happen to enjoy "spirited" debates but only when the subject matter is worthy of a discussion and then only when the parties that are debating can present their argument in a factual and logical context rather than spewing random, unfocused rhetoric.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if one's opinion doesn't have any perspective it is nothing but pure rubbish. But hey, that's just my opinion. I'm sure that someone feels as if what I am saying is pure rubbish as well but I don't just throw straw men arguments up just to be blown down, there is a bit of perspective to my rants.

A successful African man in America will more often than naught go back to Africa and bring back a wife because men in our culture are proud of us. It is a pity that AA men are so unappreciative of their counterparts as a whole. What is to be said of ignorant rappers like Lil Wayne who continually bash dark skinned women in their lyrics despite the fact their own daughters are dark skinned? What misappropriated priorities! One more thing, you immediately assumed that I was confrontational just because I am a black woman by saying we like to argue. How's that for stereotyping? Especially coming from you. I will also say that, despite the tone of my posts, I never once accused you, personally, of being bitter nor did I once say that you, personally, was a confrontational woman. The most I made mention of were your accomplishments, impressive might I add, but still not enough to make an assumption of who you are as a person.
@mzuri, I pride myself on being a man of dignity and self-respect. I grew up in an environment of self-hating and self-destructive behavior. I made the choice to excommunicate myself from such environmental conditions. Now I stand a successful, self-loving, self-educated and self-reliant man, which happens to be black. Although I am not with the mother of my children, I always treat her with the utmost of respect, despite her lifestyle choices. I am now engaged to a beautiful woman of color who supports what I do but also checks me when what I do things that contradict my being.
Bonebody I really do appreciate your responses as well and I agree. More opinions should be expressed in this manner here. I concur that my achievements alone are not enough to define as a person but while that is true, they certainly begin to shed light on who I am.
