: We had HIGH HOPES going into last night's BET awards ... but pretty soon, we knew it was gonna be a MESS!!
There is just too much to talk about. First off, where were all the STARS???? How can you have a legitimate awards show without Kanye, Rihanna, Jay Z, or Beyonce (in person). Aside from Nicki, Drake and Lil Wayne there wasn't any A-LIST musicians there.
Second, WTF was Justin Bieber doing there. We almost had to TURN OFF the TV when we saw that mess. And speaking of publicity stunts, HOW THE F*CK did Will's kids "tie" for best new artist. You knew the awards were a JOKE when they did that ish.
There were some good parts like Kelly and Trey Songz performance, the tribute to Patti LaBelle, the Five Heartbeats reunion, and Kevin Hart was pretty funny (he was actually the highlight of the show).
Probably the biggest DISASTER was Chris Brown. Last night was supposed to be his big BREAKOUT night . . . and all his performances were WHACK. . .. all 50 of them!!!
Oh but they saved the BEST for last. BET f*cked up and accidentally announced RIHANNA as the winner of the People's Choice Award. Then later they told the audience that they made a mistake . . . and gave it to Breezy. That's the kind of RATCHETNES that you don't expect . . . not EVEN FROM BET !!!

The show was better than usual. It was funny and good performance. MTO I believe yall just hating on Chris Brown because of what he did to Rihanna. That *** is old and get over it. Anyways, the awards this year were alright could have been better tho. Kevin Hart was funny, everyone who won awards deserved them, & some of the peformances were good. Chris brown is a dancing fool and I always enjoy his performances for that alone! It's almost understood that he will only be breathing in the Mic and not singing in it!

The BET Awards (and the whole network for that matter) are an embarrassment to the race they supposedly represent. It is BEYOND ghetto and everything about it embodies so many of the negative stereotypes and images of Black people. It doesn't even deserve to be called Black Entertainment...that network in no way, shape, or form represents who I am as a Black woman. And I'll bet that there are plenty of other people who feel the same way: tired of being misrepresented by a network that claims to be for Black people.

BET just isn't well-rounded programming. There's nothing wrong with all this gangsta rap bs, but if there is no alternative being offered up then it makes Black entertainment seem one dimensional. There are Black poets, writers, artists who portray a different shade of Black than the one that's being put out right now. All I'm saying is there is no balance with BET any more. There aren't enough positive messages to counteract the *** up ones.
Kelly Rowland did the best performance. She shocked the hell out of me. We had to rewind it to make sure it was her. You go girl!! She did that. I still would prefer to watch the BET awards over any other award show, I think even their worst is better than the MTV and Grammy's best. Well...I didnt watch the show, since BET is no longer owned by Bob Johnson but by Viacom no one should be disappointed in the 'staged events' the 'tie' btw the Smith kids or any of the other puppeteering going on. I missed the first 45 minutes of it but from what I did see, it wasn't that bad. I like the tributes, especially Patti LaBelle's tribute and her performance and Kelly Rowland's was good even though her hat covered her face through the whole *** performance. And yall wrong for that Chris Brown comment lol. His performance was ok, I like the dancing but they coulda left that ugly *** gray outfit off. Kevin Hart had funny moments but he wasn't really funny to me and it was refreshing to see Free hosting again. Overall, I'll say it was alright. I wouldn't call it the worst though. The only real ghetto moment was when they gave the award to the wrong person lol. That *** was crazy. Oh yeah and when Cherelle and Alexander O'Neal performed and ol' boy showed his teeth or lack thereof. That was crazy too.
