: MediaTakeOut.com learned that comedian Dave Chappelle didn't get many laughs during his appearance at Friday's Zo’s Summer Groove charity event in Miami.
According to E! News, only told one joke during his 45 minutes on the stage. Instead he talked with audience members who were heckling him, answered four text messages, then left, telling the audience: "Alright ladies and gentleman it's been a growing experience, I'm really glad I came."
CNN reporter Roland S. Martin was at the event and tweeted details about Dave's strange routine.
"This Dave Chappelle set is bizarre. He's spent more time going back & forth with one audience member, & pretty much stopped telling jokes," Martin wrote on the social networking site. "One woman just yelled, 'Can you tell a joke so we can enjoy ourselves!' He got texted four times during his show and actually checked them. I'm just not understanding what threw him off. He's complained about folks videotaping his set, yelling out loud. I don't get it. Chappelle says this is a 'test of wills.' He keeps saying 'tick tock' & he has 'nothing but time.' He's just staring at the crowd & sighing. Then Dave started talking to me, asking if I was putting this on CNN. Yes, from the stage! He's been on stage 46 minutes & told one joke."
Martin later wrote that Dave's people told him the comedian hates to be heckled and when some audience members did that it threw him off completely.

Y stand on stage for 45 min, if u dnt like what happened leave. Yes u will b charged money for skippin the show but if u feel a setup, then leave. Its not worth ur reputation. I think he did this so they wouldn't want to videotape him. When you are on the radar as a target they will use anything against you. I see why when I go to certain tapings, they say no cell phones, mo cameras, People always tryna catch you in a moment that they can benefit from. More Power to you Dave.

So glad to see that quite a few of us don't take things at face value. Dave could have accepted that 50 million and done some real SIGNIFICANT damage. I think the black klansmen skit was ahead of it's time. It indirectly spoke about ppl like Fred Muhungawanga and quite a few others. *Shrugs* But skits like "The ***" did make me cringe and Dave was rather clownish. I'm just glad to see him putting up some type of resistance and not continuing on with their plans. I'm sure those same Zionist Jews and Media Moguls had MUCH worse in mind and Im glad he refused.
His behaviour in no way came off crackish MTO. You got 1 part of the story right he *** down after he started being heckled by some members of the audience up front. He basically decided he wasnt gonna do squat. I only feel bad for Zo this is the first time in ZSG's history a comediane didnt deliver as expected.
Everyone is talking about how talented Dave is. Well what about being professional? This is somethin that he clearly isn't displaying here and certainly nothing of that talent everyone speaks of. He was as talented as everyone claims, he would not allow a few hecklers to ruin the show for the entire audience. Dust that off Dave. You aren't in a real life version of "The Nutty Professor."
Dave appears to have gained some healthy weight ,he looks fine and far from being on drugs.He actually walked away from earning a large paycheck to save his sanity .This man has a family to take care of and he did the right thing by telling them to kiss his a.......The industry is no place to be if only people knew they would back off quick.We know dave chapelle is NOT crazy as he stated it's the industry who is sick and crazy.

Maybe he was waiting for the money man to come. You know the guy with his money for doing the show. Perhaps the text was about his money not showing up. I would leave too. People don't understand the entertainment business, it is the sleaziest business going. They don't care how they treat people. Sad state of affairs!!!!
MTO y'all are So *** rachett! Just because Dave is upset doesnt mean he's acting "crackish"! There were cameras filming him & obviously that didn't sit too well with him. This is the same guy that walked away from 30 (or was it 50?) mill for the sake of his sanity.. Basically this was a good "kiss my ***" directed at Hollyweird. Do your homework, before you start saying someone is acting crackish..& Dave has obviously picked up weight so I doubt he's On any drugs.
