City of Grosse Pointe police arrested a 24-year-old Detroit man about 3 a.m. Tuesday outside the home of Anita Baker after she called police because he refused to leave and banged repeatedly on her front door while singing to her.Dwon Darnell Thompson is charged with two misdemeanor counts: stalking and trespassing. If convicted of stalking, he faces up to one year in prison, up to $1,000 in fines and up to five years of probation. The trespassing count carries a penalty of up to 30 days in jail.
According to a police report from the responding officer, Baker—the Grammy Award-winning singer—said she and her son repeatedly asked Thompson to leave after he showed up at their home about 3 a.m. He refused, and the banging and the singing continued for 20 minutes, prompting her to call police.
Baker told responding officers Thompson has been harassing her for about three months. She first saw him pacing in front of her home on the street and then he's followed her around repeatedly while she's shopping in the Village, telling clerks who are helping her to tell her that he wants to sing for her.

Yeah, your boy is crazy. Nobody gets a record deal by harrassing a singer at her home in the middle of the ***. That gets you a straight jacket and a prescription. Anita is better than me though, because he would have caught a *** in his behind if he brought that foolishness to my house at 3am. If someone has been following me for three months, then shows up at my house banging on the door and singing, I'm going to assume homeboy is insane, and I'm reaching in the ***. Then I'll call the police. These stalkers are not playing anymore, and I have s*hit to do. I dont have time to be on 48 hours.

He doesn't have a right to be stalking her and pacing and being on her property acting a fool. I won't be checkin' for a *** thing because he won't be coming up reaching for the stars and a hand out.
