: MediaTakeOut.com caught wind last week of a rumor among industry insiders that FERGIE from the Black Eyed Peas would be LEAVING the group . .. and being replaced by ANOTHER female singer.
Well now MediaTakeOut.com just spoke with a TOP music industry exec who told us that the group is IN THE WORKS of replacing Fergie, with R&B singer ASHANTI!!!
The insider, who asked to remain anonymous told MediaTakeOut.com, "The group had been looking for a replacement for some time." Ashanti was reportedly brought onto the group's WORLD TOUR - as sort of an AUDITION, to see if she could work with the band - and it worked out PERFECTLY!!
Ashanti and The Black Eyed Peas have been ON TOUR together for nearly a month.
So when can we expect an OFFICIAL announcement? Well, a little birdie tells us that they haven't yet DOTTED the I's and CROSSED the T's yet, legally. But we can expect one in the next few days.
Oh . . . and to those that think that this CAN'T HAPPEN. Black Eyed Peas member Taboo announced earlier this week that as of Nov 23rd (the group's last OFFICIAL tour date) Fergie is taking an INDEFINITE LEAVE. Taboo told the newspaper The New Times. "We have to respect Ferg. Ferg is our sister. She definitely wants to have a family, and we're happy for her."

You have got to be effing kidding me right now. Hahahahaha what a joke! Ashanti come on let's be real. Ashanti replacing fergie? No offense to her but come on. That's like Beyonce being replaced with the likes of Ameriie or Mariah Carey being replaced with......anybody that is not on her same vocal level. All these ladies Ientioned are great but there are stronger vocals than other and fergie was a huge presence both in group and off and they think they want Ashanti who hasn't did anything musically in years and whose image is slightly hood and vocally can't compete? It's almost an insult to her. Yikes
I can't see Ashanti doing those W.P./POP songs, they should get someone like KATY PERRY,JESSIE J. LILLY ALLEN, or even NATASHA BEDINGFIELD, I would say the former PCD member, but that won't work either, if ashanti can come out w/ a house type hit, then maybe, but she mainly R&B......she should stick to it!!!!
Ashanti has a nice voice. She isn't Patti LaBelle, but she is more than Kim ***, or Kim Zolczak. Murder Inc didn't showcase the best of Ashanti. Look up clips of her before she was famous. Especially Ain't a Melody. I think this "rumor" is ***, but then again, all the Ashanti hate. She doesn't REQUIRE autotune. Next to Mariah, Celine, Anita Baker, Shanice and the like I can understand some of the comments. But when you look at the "talent" of the majority of today's industry.......SPARE ME!

Ashanti should have made it official with Nelly's unfaithful *** years ago, at least she's got a chance at a career now. She's not the greatest singer, but with Will.I.Am's tracks, a vocorder, and synthesizer she'll do just as well as Fergie if not moreso with her "street cred", she'll probably do very well actually.

I know Ashanti ain't done nothing in a minute, but I still feel that, based on what she has done and her style, this is not how I want to see her come back. She's an Hip Hop/R&B diva. That alternative *** they do does not suit her. Sorry. She's actually more talented than folks giver her credit for, and definitely more talented than the music she puts out allows her to display. However, I don't think this is the comeback move for her. But, hope I'm wrong.
I love Ashanti and if it's true I believe it really could work out. I think Ashanti wrote some songs for them, just in case people are wondering what she does, home girl is a song writer and has been since day 1, she's created many hits that people don't even know about pop & r&b and that''s why she's still relevant, that's where the money is anyway. Ashanti will stay paid regardless if she's in a group or not but either way I would love to here her sing again, I miss this chick and that dress is INSANE!!! There is no black eyed peas without fergie PERIOD but then again I love her as a solo artist more than the group so at least I wont have to always fast forward their parts to get to hers. Ashanti is gorgeous but I cant see her in this group mainly because the fans WILL NOT accept her as the new lead singer.
This is crazy!!! Groups KILL me with this ish. If a lead singer thinks that they can hold it down as a solo artist why not launch as a solo act to begin with? Why use the other members for exposure and then leave them hanging? That's f*cked up! Ashanti is good for swinging on Nelly's n*ts and appearances--that's it.
