: Conrad Murray was convicted Monday of involuntary manslaughter in the drug-overdose death of singer Michael Jackson after a jury deliberated for two days.
Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor handed the case to the seven-man, five-woman jury Thursday after closing arguments by prosecutor David Walgren and lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff. Over nearly six weeks of testimony, jurors heard from 33 prosecution witnesses and 16 defense witnesses. More than 340 exhibits were available in the jury room as the panel mulled a verdict.
Jackson, 50, died on June 25, 2009, of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol, aggravated by effects of the sedative lorazepam. Murray, 58, was charged with a single count of involuntary manslaughter. He pleaded not guilty.
The jury delivered the verdict this afternoon. Conrad Murray was found GUILTY by a unanimous jury.
Nobody will ever be satisfied when it comes to this case. Would it have been better if he got off? He gave the man something he had no business giving to him or making available period. That stuff he gave him--Propovol (pardon my spelling)--they give that to people to KNOCK THEM OUT before a surgery. They gave it to my father before his surgery a year ago. I don't that stuff is supposed to come out of a hospital to help someone sleep. As his doctor, he should have been helping him or getting him help in other ways. Now he's gonna pay for it, NO BAIL.
Who says they're happy over this? I hollered because I was shocked. I didn't dance. I cried a little bit because MJ didn't have to die. I hate it when people assume every single fan is automatically happy and all that.
It won't bring Michael back... Besides this system is so backwards. The guy is facing 4 years for doing something he was trained to do, knew he was doing the wrong thing, and KILLED the most famous person in music ever... while drug dealers who don't administer the drug to clients get quadruple the time. How do you explain this injustice?... Drugs across the board are wrong, but this entire situation is a mess.

It's funny how some people think that those whom Micheal Jackson surrounded himself with during his last years on earth should have been looking out for his best interest. That is laughable!! Well if you think those are the types of people who surround most celebrities then you should give that some more thought, because when you are a celebrity you are going to have the people around you that make your life easier and that answer to your demands/beck & calls so I assure you "ANYBODY" that wasn't willing to follow Michael Jackson's orders when it came to giving him what he wanted and felt he needed was "Expeditiously" dismissed. Sure what Murry contributed to was unethical even immoral, but it also came out before the trial even began that he wasn't the first doctor Micheal had hired or traveled with to administer this drug to him oh yes, there were others it's just that unfortunately for Conrad Murry Micheal died on his watch not theirs. I seem to remember many of the people here talking real slick about Michael Jackson when he was alive, and walking around with his face covered. Now, all in a sudden, you grew a conscience? Michael was a great musician and a fabulous entertainer. But Michael was a drug addict. If it had been you or I, no one would give two shakes of a rat's arse. What happened to Arnold Kline? He pumped Michael full of drugs just as Murray did. Murray's stupidity got him in trouble but there are others who helped pull the trigger. Michael was a grown arse man and no one shoved drugs down his throat. Haul the lot of them; Joe for beating his arse the way he did, Katherine for feigning ignorance, his siblings for not staging an intervention before Michael isolated himself and his children from their arses, the DA's office for not going after all of Michael's drug pushers in one fell swoop, his concert promoters for placing Michael in a situation where he felt he needed to hire a personal drug pusher, his so-call friends who seemingly missed all the clues and only realized after he was dead that he was a druggie, and everyone else involved in the demise of such a talented man. Michael was their meal ticket. I seriously doubt Michael never would have wanted any of this. Just like white folks to go and set the fox [other blacks] against the chickens [more blacks]. Unfortunately, Michael was addicted to drugs and I don't believe that the doctor should have gotten manslaughter; he did a f*cked up thing, but his intentions were not to kill Michael. Give the man neglect, but not manslaughter. Now, I see most of the weird stuff he did probably was a result of the heavy medication use. I had minor surgery several years ago, and the drugs they prescribe for me knocked me out each and every time. They gave me much more than I needed and because of the reaction I had to them, I flushed what I didn't use. I said all that to say, that I can see how some people can become addicted to them. If Michael was broke and poor like me, Dr. Murray might have been sued and that would have been the end of that. Classicism and Racism is still running rampant in the US regardless of who the leader of this great nation is. The worst form of racism is those that are disguised. Michael was addicted to pain killers and such. He admitted to it but I take this as so is plenty of celebs. But this Dr was the last person alone with MJ and he was held accountable for his care in his last moments of life. He was guilty alone of NOT calling the paramedics, 911. He took a oath as a doctor to save lives not neglect someone he had drugged up. MJ had such a sad and lonely life it appears but its time these moneymongers face the musis on what they prescribe. I do believe the Jackson family tried to confront MJ on his drug use. Janet, Tito and Rebbie just to name a few in his close family did try to intervene to him. He got comfortable with administering that drug to MJ to the point where he felt comfortable leaving him unsupervised... I'm confident that wasn't the first time Dr. Conrad left MJ while he was under, but the *** hit the fan on June 25 2009... I think MJ was already dead when the Dr. came back into the room & notice he wasn't breathing... But he didn't call 911 immediately because he had to do damage control ... If MJ was declared dead in the house would they would have turned it into a crime scene immediately because & they would of uncovered all the drugs... IJS
Very few people know that Michael Jackson had a medi-port on his ankle. A med-port is a port put under the skin so that iv's can be administered. This port is used for cancer patients and persons with diseases that requrie constant treatment. Michael Jackson had no veins in his body. Ports are usually put in between your chest and neck. He had been using iv drips for years and did nothing about it. Dr. Murray knew Michael Jackson had all kind of drugs and secrets and tried to protect MJ. Tito said he and his family tried to help Michael and couldn't get past security. It's sad that Michael had to do all of this just to please his fans. Ask yourself this..if he had to take sedatives to sleep at ***..where is the Dr. who gave him drugs to stay up all day?
So many intelligent comments supporting Dr. Conrad today. There are plenty of drugs that can kill you if unsupervised or taken in the wrong quantities. Even if you are not in healthcare, I am sure that some of you have seen those lawyer commercials talking about the recalled drugs and how you could have a lawsuit if you took any of them. The government does not always test these drugs long term; they even allow some after only a ten year trial. Everyone makes mistakes. Is he blood guilty, yes to a certain degree, but it was not intentional, so he should only have to pay a monetary settlement (within his means). An addict will always find a way to get drugs, so they can stop using Conrad as a scapegoat. They have laws in place for medicine that the government paid for the poor to have, but usually those laws are lax when it comes to the rich. Stop looking at MJ as an icon and start looking at him as a man. The only reason that they are taking Conrad down is because white people loved Michael so much that they are deeply offended by his death; they worshiped him. There are people in your family on crack, and you might even know some dealers in your neighborhood (unfortunately), but are you chasing them down and holding them accountable for the lives that they are taking? But trust that you can not go in a white persons neighborhood and sell drugs unless you look like one of them, because a n*gga must always be held accountable or they are stepping out of their place. Even though Murray was very negligent in caring for MJ, I feel sorry for him because I know he did not intentionally mean to kill MJ. He was in a state of shock and reacted as any scared person would have in that situation. That was MJ...not some ordinary patient and that man was scared to *** death. Yes there were many faults and many flaws, but the bottom line is that MJ trusted him and Murray made a horrible mistake that he has to live with for the rest of his life and suffer God knows how long for it. I just wish someone had stepped in before MJ's addiction progressed to the point in which it did because so many people are responsible for his death...not just Murray. I don't find happiness in other people's misery so there is no happy ending for no one here. My sympathies go out to everyone who suffered in this tragedy.
