: "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard has pulled the plug on his three-year marriage.
The 33-year-old singer has filed for divorce from wife Surata Zuri McCants in Alabama, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. "Ruben and Zuri have gone their separate ways," his rep confirmed to TMZ.
Studdard first met McCants in 2006 at a Wal-Mart in Atlanta, where he was signing CDs for fans. The couple dated for two years before tying the knot in a private ceremony in June 2008. They don’t have any children together.
Before marrying Reuben, Surata worked as a model and a video girl. Se starred prominently in Nelly's TIP DRILL video.
Ruben never should have married her, but he chose her and when a man chooses a woman then he will also financially support her because he wants to posses her that's his trophy piece. I mean sure she put herself in the Walmart store to get his autograph for her so called best friend who was supposedly stuck at work,(B.S of course)because she was looking for an easy target and knew she could get his attention and his tongue would wagging for her cakes. What yall bet she done spent up all his paper and ruined the man's credit and he didn't even get a baby out the deal? It's really sad that his career didn't do what it was suppose to from being Idol's winner, but that just goes to show that these record companies look for more than just a voice when signing a artist they also need a complete package for record sales and I really believe his image is what held him back. They were hoping they could turn him into a sexy singing Teddy Bear, but he's no Gerald Levert and what he had to offer just wasn't enough.
Studdard is expected to release a new album, Letter from Birmingham, early next year and the work will include a collaboration with the late Heavy D. There's a Ruben Studdard Celebration Weekend this weekend in Birmingham that includes a pasta dinner, a casino *** and a half marathon. The theme of the event is to bring "health, wellness, fitness and fun to Birmingham," according to Studdard's website.
