Perm and relaxers permenantly straighten the hair. It's possible that she just used heat, like a flat iron to straighten her natural hair. Hair grows long if you don't damage it with chemicals so that it's breaking off on the ends at the same rate that its growing. That's what hair does, it grows. Its not rocket science.

Natural means just that. No chemicals or permanent manipulation to change the texture of ones hair ( I.e. Relaxers, perms, s curls, Jheri curls, etc. ). It DOES NOT include straightening ones hair as that is not permanent. So your definition, supabadchick, seems like it would include any manipulation. I wear my natural hair in braids, twists, twist outs or curled with rod sets. Does that make me less natural because I style my hair? Or are thick fro's the "true" definition of natural. That's an extreme view but I'm no less natural than the one that wears a fro 24/7. My hair has never been longer, thicker or healthier than right now so natural to you or not, it works. I've stopped relaxing 17 months ago and I've grown 8 inches of hair. All it takes is one swipe of my remington straightener and my hair is that straight. I have the average texture of a black woman who doesn't relax. So trust me, this is possible. You can tell by that pic alone that she has major body, relaxers don't provide that. Well, according to my expertise in deciphering the real strands from the fake, and I watched the show, Toya does have a nice grade of hair ("good hair") so she may not have a perm. However, eventhough the pony tail on the pic looks quite real, there could be a couple of Indian hair pieces in there. I know for a fact that on the shows she has pieces. There it is there. This is bullsh*t! I rarely relax my hair and it gets pretty *** straight with a flat iron, too. And most chicks who frequently wear sew-ins have hair like Toya's when they take down the braids and flat iron it. This isn't news. This can VERY well be her hair. You forget, not ALL black folks are necessarily 100% black (you could be 97%). For some, all it takes is some heat. If you braid all your hair up for a "sew in" as often as she probably has, you better BELIEVE your hair is going to grow out long and thick in a good year and a half. Everyone's hair texture is different. Some peoples hair break off so easily, and others don't. It's nothing to brag about, but I most def don't need to use relaxers, and if I'm not using heat...murrys grease works just as good for the edges....especially if you damp'*** your edges, then put some murrys grease, slick them down (or brush them down), and tie your hair up the *** before with a slik scarf...your edges will be as slick as hers (if you choose).

First of all, women who don't use relaxers would be considered natural. Second, she probably gets her hair straightened by heat. A lot of women who are natural do this if they don't feel like a twist out or the other common natural hairstyles. She probably puts a lot of heat and protein to her hair to keep it that way. Now I'm sure she tosses an extension in there from time to time, but she doesn't necessarily have to have relaxed hair for it to be that straight.

If she really hasn't had a relaxer in 9 years, this length is possible because the hair grows about 1 to 1.5 inches a month.(you wouldn't know this if you relax your hair) And getting natural hair this straight is simple, use heat protection serum and blow dry and straighten.
