In Alexandria, LA the crowd pushed so hard the glass entrance of the mall caved and fell on a crowd of people resulting in some even having glass in their head. At least 2 kids were in the mess of people injured.
Police shut down the mall and no one got any sneakers.

There were lines formed at stores and malls all over the Bay Area here, and guess who at least half (if not more) of the people were standing in line (and starting fights)? Asians and Hispanics! So dismiss me with the 'only blacks people...' ish.

My understanding---based upon reports I've read---is that an athletic shoe costs less than a dollar in mass production in China. Talk about exorbitant returns on investment. The profits are through the roof!
On the other hand, consumer materialism is very disturbing---especially among Black people. Our spending supersedes common sense and is based on emotional impulses. It is an insult to be known as a CONSUMER GROUP instead of being the owners, investors, manufacturers or producers of commodities. No wonder Advertisers and Marketers are so effective. They use simple psychology.

It may be a little crazy to wait hours in line for a pair of sneakers, but they aren't nowhere near as crazy as the people who write on this thread. After reading all the Klan-line comments, I went back to look at the picture to see what was so offensive. Again, all I saw were a few people hanging out in front of a broken door at the mall. They weren't in a line. For all I know a movie just let out. But that's all it took for y'all to go into rants about how you hate black people using some of the most hateful and vile language possible. Some even stupid enough to say you're ashamed to be black. If I had the choice of sending a group of people for a mental evaluation, I would quickly send the ones who expressed this type of hate for black people (and being black themselves) a lot quicker than the ones who just stood in line a few hours for a pair of shoes.
Where I live, it was mainly Latino kids waiting in line. But that doesn't matter. The bigger point is I didn't see anyone over 25 waiting in line. Young people blow their money on stupid things. That's normal. What isn't normal is the extreme hate and prejudice black people get for living their lives. How do we know if these kids have children they're not taking care of? Yet we assume and blame. Where were you people when white folks were stepping over and pepper-spraying each other at Black Friday? I didn't read a comment about it from you. Rushing to rescue his grandson from the crazed mob, the man put the two video game discs he had been carrying into his belt so he could use both hands to pull his son from the mob of crazed consumers. However, two nearby police did not see the grandson and proceeded to brutally attack the grandfather, grabbing him by the lower legs and slamming him into the ground, knocking him unconscious and smashing his face into the hard Walmart concrete floor In Kinston police/security had to use pepper spray at (mostly white/latino) Walmart when shoppers who got out of hand. Gunfire sends Nike shoppers scrambling at East Bay mall RICHMOND, Calif. —
A man – among the 2,000-3,000 people waiting for a chance to buy retro Air Jordan XI Concord collectible sneakers at Richmond's Hilltop Mall – pulled out a gun and fired a single *** into the air, sending the shoppers scrambling for cover early Friday, authorities said.
The Richmond police department said the alleged gunman was in custody and the gun had been recovered.
Ironically at the time of the early morning ***, the Nike store located inside the mall had already sold out of the adult sizes of the shoe.
No one was injured in the ***, police said.
Meanwhile, in Fairfield police have called for mutual aid at the Solano Mall to handle the large crowd lined up to by the Nike shoe there.
The Richmond violence was among at least three incidents that had broken out early Friday among shoppers nationwide awaiting a chance to buy the shoes.
Shoppers stood in long lines through the *** to get their hands on a retro version of one of the most popular models of Air Jordans ever made. The fights were reminiscent of violence that broke out in the early 1990s on streets across America as the shoes became popular targets for thieves.
In Seattle, police used pepper spray on about 20 customers who started fighting at the Westfield Southcenter mall early Friday.
Tukwila Officer Mike Murphy said people started gathering around *** at four stores in the mall for a chance to buy the shoes, which retail for about $180 a pair. The crowd grew to more than 1,000 people by 4 a.m., when the stores opened, he said.
"Around 3 (a.m.) there started to be some fighting and pushing among the customers," Murphy said. "Around 4, it started to get pretty unruly and officers sprayed pepper spray on a few people who were fighting, and that seemed to do the trick to break them up."
He said no injuries were reported, although some people suffered cuts or scrapes from fights. One man was arrested for assault after authorities say he pushed an officer.
"He did not get his shoes; he went to jail," Murphy said.
Arrests also were reported at stores in Georgia and Michigan.
The frenzy over Air Jordans has been dangerous in the past. Some people were mugged or even killed for early versions of the shoe, created by Nike Inc. in 1985.
Elsewhere Friday, police say about 100 people forced their way into a shopping center in Taylor, Mich., around 5:30 a.m., damaging decorations and overturning benches. A 21-year-old man was arrested.
In Lithonia, Ga., at least four people were arrested after a crowd of customers broke down a door before a store selling the Air Jordans opened.
DeKalb County police said up to 20 squad cars responded. Officers escorted most of the people outside but took four into custody, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
Police also said they had to break a car window to get two toddlers out after a woman went in after the shoes. They said she was taken into custody when she returned to the car.
Hundreds of people also lined up outside shoe stores in Portland, Ore., downtown Seattle and at a mall in nearby Federal Way.
In Tukwila, Murphy said the crowd was on the verge of a riot and would have gotten even more out of hand if the police hadn't intervened.
"It was not a nice, orderly group of shoppers," Murphy said. "There were a lot of hostile and disorderly people."
About 25 officers from Tukwila, Renton, Kent, Seattle and King County responded. Murphy said they smelled marijuana and found alcohol containers at the scene.
The Southcenter mall's stores sold out of the Air Jordan 11 Retro Concords, and all but about 50 people got their Nikes, Murphy said.
Shoppers described the scene as chaotic and at times dangerous.
Carlisa Williams said she joined the crowd at the Southcenter for the experience and ended up buying two pairs of shoes -- one for her and one for her brother. But she said she'll never do anything like it again.
"I don't understand why they're so important to people," Williams told KING-TV. "They're just shoes at the end of the day. It's not worth risking your life over."

My niece & I saw Michael Jordan a couple months ago & my niece (who is 9) was so excited & asked him for his autograph...he said "I don't sign autographs" & walked away like he didn't give a ***...that dude is arrogant, *** & full of himself...he doesn't give a *** about anybody getting hurt...he just wants that money! The shoes are old as *** & I honestly think you would have to be a dumb *** to wait all *** & pay $180 for some shoes that cost $90 when they were out 15 years ago!
