People who are saying that this man steals money from his followers needs to do their research. Joel Osteen does not make a salary for pastoring a church. The man has written several books, the majority of them being New York Times bestsellers. That is how he makes the majority of his money. If you don't agree with the man or his message, that is fine, we all have a right to our opinions. But if you are going to judge and assassinate his character, do it based on FACTS. People who buy his books and such do it out of their own free will. He doesn't reach in anybody's pockets and pull the money out. If that's being a thief, then all of these designers and such are being thieves when you walk into the store and buy their clothes and shoes out your own free will. You have a choice to study the word of God and pray to Him to give you the spirit of discernment, so that you will know the truth for yourselves. However, having knowledge of the truth does not give you a right to judge by any means. By passing judgement, you are only setting yourselves up for a bigger fall.
And that is why these nuccas need to be taxed. I am sure Jesus would be disgusted by this foolishness. When he went around spreading the word of God, I am sure he wasn't asking for money. One religious group I semi-agree with are the Witnesses because they attempt to spread the word of God for free as Jesus once did and their "churches" are modest, not flashy and they don't ask for hand-outs. There are things I don't like about them, but other than that they are still a religious group.
All I know is that Jesus would be ashamed at how religious zealots separate, divide and go to war with each other. Such a disappointment.
