The source adds that Ben’s mother, philanthropist Sherry Bronfman , is helping to take care of his son.

She is a tamil from Sri Lanka (the same people that were subjected to genocide) 2) She was born in the UK, but her family moved back to Sri Lanka for a few years and then returned to the UK, which makes her British-Sri Lankan. 3) India and Sri Lanka are two different countries. Neighbors, but separate nations. 4) Indians are NOT Arabs. Indians are also predominantly Hindus although Christians and Muslims form a minority. 5) Not all South Asians work at gas stations, 7-Eleven or drive cabs, although some hard working south asians, including Bangladeshis, Indians, Sri Lankans and Pakistanis do. But hey, at least they work! 6) You also see a lot of South Asians in the medical and IT fields and of late, in the white house and politics as well! 7) The DesiPrincess everyone is attacking may not be South Asian (desi) at all. No one takes anything written by anyone at anytime at any moment, ever, on this site seriously including the owners- so y u mad? Of course not all Asians/Indians are alike, that would be ignorant to assume, but most the people generalizing Indians here aren't the ones to blame. Although Sir Lakans may not be technically "Indian," they are still of South Asian decent and many Indians from India migrated to the Island thousands of years ago. Their ancestory is Indian, so they might as well be Indian. Also, MIA has said in many song lyrics that she is a "hot Indian babe," so you need to take that up with her.

For the record, I like MIA and appreciate her talent and message. The only reason I post ignorant comments about Indians is because of ignorant comments being posted about black people. As for the white collar Indians you mentioned in working in IT and other jobs besides cab driving-- they are paid below minimum wage rates, because companies ship OUR jobs to Indians to keep from paying AMERICANS a decent living. So it seems like slave labor to me.
Oh, and African Americans work too. Actually, we make up about 13% of the population- 40% being middle class with 80% of the black population being employed one way or another. Go to India and I think about 90% of that country's citizens are out of work. @Postmodernist, first of all let me thank you for responding in a respectful manner and for not using profanity. I appreciate it. I do have to disagree with some of the points you made though. It is true that Sri Lankans are South Asians like you said, but apart from the ancestry that dates 1000's of years back, they strictly identify themselves as different nations. It would be like calling a *** person a Ugandan although they both are African by heritage. I was strictly referring to the South Asians living in the States, because references were being made to gas stations and 7-Elevens. The Doctors or IT people in the States do not make minimum wages. I work in the IT industry myself and I know that the foreign workers make quite decent money, enough to afford nice cars, houses and to send money back home to their families. I don't believe that they are taking over any jobs that Americans could have potentially got because these are hi-tech jobs based on skill and education and not anyone can just take over anyone's job unless he/she is qualified. As for the outsourcing, Good point. Blame the companies for sourcing out jobs to other countries to cut costs and not the people that the jobs go to. For them, the 'less than minimum wage' amounts to a 'more than decent' wage given the value of the dollar goes a long way! I'm not taking any cheap *** at black people. I used the chitlins reference to point out to stereotypes. I'm Indian myself and I love black people and I relate more to a person of color than to anyone else given that I'm colored myself. It just hurts to see my brothers and sisters of color making demeaning and ignorant remarks about another culture not too different from their own, just because some random person made provocative remarks posing as a 'Desi'. For all you know, he/she might be one of your own, or white. Her views do not represent an entire culture. That was what I was trying to get at. I don't care if I come across nerdy or whack. I'd be happy I can get one person to change his/her perspective and accept instead of hate another person from another culture. But if you feel like I'm barking up the wrong tree and this website is too shallow to have any thought provoking discussions, then oh well..at least I tried...peace!
