Cornel West seems to have a problem when anyone--male or female, Obama or Harris-Perry--defies his supposed brilliance. Btw, I don't believe he is a genius or a creative type. But he was a respected scholar until he let his ego eat his brain.
Dr. Coonell should focus on stopping his urge to call every white man he meets "my brother" and giggling at their jokes like a 1930's black-faced minstrel actor and work on supporting black people, whether it be President Obama or Harris-Perry.
He apparently hates anyone black that is successful and doesn't require his direct action and approval to operate.
he thinks he is wonderful. some folks even think he is a 'leader'. he is NEITHER. i'd take hers or anyone's word before his. his attempted diss just sounds like self-description plus 'the lady doth protest too much, me thinks'. he is the symbol for elitism in education, the reason 'african american studies', related 'history' depts and even 'black history' month needs rethinking entirely. the symbol of too much useless 'book learning' not enough connection to real life. there's a tone of 'she's-indebted-to-me' that doesn't add to his credibility...i don't dig this bruh no mo' not him and not Tavis S either...
My thing is once again black against black. I for the most part use to respect Dr. West, but he jumped the along time again. Dr. West is upset because he wants the president to be just OUR president and worry about OUR issues and he can't do that. He can't be just the black president, so West has jumped on him because he doesn't have just a black agenda and anybody who doesn't agree with his point of view is criticized.
It's wise to do your research on this story, instead of assuming that he made those remarks based off of her being a woman. It IS possible that she's a liar, especially given the position that she's currently in. Think about what people have to do to be placed in such positions! I'm a woman, I don't know what she does (right or wrong), I just think it's best to make informed statements...

That message also included a video of an African beaten to death by these Libyan U.S./NATO allies.
I don't always agree with Melissa. She hated "The Help" and while she made valid points, I thought the movie was worth seeing. But I generally have no problem with her. But Mr West has been on my sh*t list of minute now. He and Tavis seemed to have gone off the deep end.....
Bottom line is, West is out making greasy public statements about another Black academic while Melissa is minding her business. Especially after her snide comments about him last year. I've questioned her character and motives all along. Dr. West just validated my feelings about her. Once again we have allowed the media to create drama between us. Instead of pointing fingers about who is right, wrong, or indifferent, why don't we try to stick together and come up with some solid solutions to the madness.
