I don't think what Roland Martin said was wrong. He wasn't commenting on homosexuals. He was making a joke as a straight man about straight men. I don't give a dam is someone is gay...that's your choice... but everything isn't about you.

I somewhat agree with Juicy, When you're employed by a huge media outlet you cannot tweet every little stupid drunk thought that pop into your head at a superbowl party. Roland appears to be a very smart man & should have known better. I listen to Roland every week on the TJMS and they are always discussing the lack of black anchors in mainstream media. What was Roland trying to do, make it one less??? To me this isn't even about being homosexuality, it's about common sense. The employees with my company had to sign statements that we will not bash the company on social media outlets & blogging sites. If I get drunk, post some mess on facebook & one of my coworkers see it, print it out & report me then guess what....I will be disciplined.

What I am saying is that they can be compared and are similar. One is a visible (skin color) characteristic and the other is a non-visible (sexual orientation) characteristic of an inherent trait that can't be chosen. One does not choose to be black and one does not choose to be gay. Skin color is outside and sexual orientation is inside.
Now that you're true colors show: "these are my religious beliefs," so be it. But what you fail to realize is that you have it backwards. Whereas, sexuality is not a choice/preference but your Religion is. One chooses their religious preference. As a child, you are taught "faith" and what Christianity is. Many people that aren't religous find out that they are gay at a very early stage.
Ending, believe what you want but stop the judgement and stop the half truths. It's funny how so-called Christians pick and choose which parts of the Bible they wish to force on other people. OK, I know everyone is tiring of this debate and its cool that everyone has been civil and respectful in sharing their opinions, but I have to address JUICYJ3000 (the bible queen). I am a spiritual person but by no means an expert on biblical theology or religious studies. What's interesting though is that I usually understand the Bible way more than people like JUICYJ3000, who judge an entire population of people and force their beliefs on others, base their life (sordidly).
Here's the truth about the Bible. First, the Bible is a book about God. Its the story of God's love for the world and the people of the world. It tells the history of God's love at work rescuing, renewing, and empowering humankind. It was never intended to be a book about human sexuality.
Second, the Bible accepts sexual practices that we condemn and condemns sexual practices that we accept. Lots of them! Here are a few examples:
DEUTERONOMY 22:13-21 If it is discovered that a bride is not a virgin, the Bible demands that she be executed by stoning immediately.
DEUTERONOMY 22:22 If a married person has sex with someone else's husband or wife, the Bible commands that both adulterers be stoned to death.
MARK 10:1-12 Divorce is strictly forbidden in both Testaments, as is remarriage of anyone who has been divorced. LEVITICUS 18:19 The Bible forbids a married couple from having sexual intercourse during a woman's period. If they disobey, both shall be executed.
MARK 12:18-27 If a man dies childless, his widow is ordered by biblical law to have intercourse with each of his brothers in turn until she bears her deceased husband a male heir.
DEUTERONOMY 25:11-12 If a man gets into a fight with another man and his wife seeks to rescue her husband by grabbing the enemy's genitals, her hand shall be cut off and no pity shall be shown her.

FAIL because here is what is meant by that: Even if we accept the NIV or KJV translations, (KJV: “Thou shalt not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.”) we still must understand the historical context of how men and women were viewed at that time. The status of women in that time was much lower than that of men, and women were even considered property of the men. This belief regarding gender relations is rejected by most of the Christian church today, but in order to make sense of this specific Jewish law we must keep in mind this context in which it was written. We simply cannot ignore the second half of the phrase, “as with a woman” as most interpretations tend to do.

The reason people compare being black with being gay as it's been established from all known forms of science that neither is a choice. Homosexuality can be hidden because having sex is a behavior. A person doesn't have to have sex. You can't hide your race though.
The problem with this argument is that it has absolutely nothing to do with the discrimination attributed to either case. One is discriminated for being "inferior" the other for being immoral. Other than that, the two issues are quite similar.

The systemic history regarding race in this country is one reason why gay rights cannot be compared to the civil rights struggle. The other reason as stated before is that unless you are overtly gay, this part of your life can be hidden. Not saying thats cool that someone would feel the need to do that or whatever but at least a gay person has that choice in most cases. Black people especially do not have that option. That said, I do feel we as black people seem to have an issue sometimes empathizing with other people who have their rights infringed upon when it should be the opposite because of our own experiences.
Where I disagree is when Proverbial and others say that being gay is a choice. As a straight man, it is not logical to me that a man would be attracted to another man and in the case of some, not be attracted to women sexually at all. I don't see someone who feels the way I do somehow making a decision to go that route at the risk of being socially ostracized on top of that. Now, it is a choice to act on those urges, but the urge itself has to be innate. Also the choice argument does not explain effeminate boys at 4 and 5 years old for example. I doubt very highly my son could have been "taught" to come off effeminate by anybody. From an early age he automatically gravitated toward male things, behaviors and mannerisms etc. My daughter was the stark opposite. She is definitely a girly girl.
But long story short, the choice argument is what I was brought up to believe but now its not logical imho.

And there ARE studies out there that show a generic link to homosexuality. If there wasn't one, it would only be a phenomenon in human society. But we see it in animals as well.

Secondly, animals DO have rationalization. They are more predisposed to instinct, but many species of animals DO have reason. The only thing that separates humans from animals is our ability to significantly alter our environment and create societies numbering in the millions while retaining individualism. My point was that If this was learned behavior as such your argument, it would not occur in animals. We've found animals in their natural environment, completely devoid of humans, engaging in homosexual activity. How was this learned in any way?
Third, there have been many studies done that have shown that the more boys a family has, the less testosterone and more estrogen they are exposed to. Leading to the *possibility, not the *certainty, but the *possibility, that one of the younger will be homosexual. These are all publicly vetted studies done on the subject. This is well researched.
Also just to address your point about homosexuality being a learned behavior - that competely ignores one huge glaring fact. Gay people come from STRAIGHT families. And in households with two gay parents, the child is usually STRAIGHT. If sexuality is learned, why don't we see the reverse? Sex is a behavior. You can choose to have sex or not. But the physiological feelings- the disposition of same sex urges - are those learned? That is very unlikely from all known forms of psychology and science.
Bro, you chose to act on the feelings. But you didn't choose the FEELINGS. That's my point. The physic of a woman was pleasing to you and you chose to act on those feelings. But when did you choose to HAVE those feelings? Those urges which you had. When did you choose them or were they always there? The urges to have sex with women are ingrained in you. They're simply not for a guy like Perez Hilton.
Animals do usually act on instinct. If the basic animal instict is to procreate and survive, why would they "choose" to have sex with their same gender? It just completely goes against what seems natural.
And like I said. Sex is behavior. A homosexual can certainly simply not have sex. But the psyiological attraction to the same gender is almost impossible to choose.
Also, animals know the difference between right and wrong. Not on the complex level that we understand it, but they do.

It's so funny to me but this thread is a classic example of how people believe what they want to believe no matter how much sense it makes or how much proof there is in front of them. And for the record, JD graduate, rationality isn't decided solely upon "right v wrong" values. To be rational, a thing has to consider variables within a setting. Animals (like lions) use rational thoughts before hunting. They rationalize the "best" strategy for making a kill. They deduct (legal jargon you law student you) whether or not it is logical to risk an injury when hunting large or small prey. They assess whether or not the animal is sick, healthy, fast or slow...
And to make a statement about "straight out the womb" is ridiculous. Your entire argument is tired and runs around in circles. You state all these muddled opinions (none of which is supported by fact, academia or even religious principles) to only end up supporting our argument that heterosexuality choice you, and you acted on it.
