: MediaTakeOut.com just received word that Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey is charging neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman with second degree murder for the shooting of Trayvon Martin.
If convicted he will get LIFE in prison.
This is justice for Trayvon Martin and his family, because I wouldn't have understood it if the "Special Prosecutor" had thoroughly examined this case and ruled or reasoned any other way... This was a coverup from the very top by Law Enforcement and after he is arrested I hope they(Trey's parents) file a civil suit against the State of Florida for the gross negligence in handling this case. This is a BIG relief, because if they had let this man go free and clear of a racially motivated murder they would have been responsible for inciting a Riot which would have claimed more innocent lives.

The Sanford police have a history of impeding or denying justice to that city's black residents, and the way they handled this case exemplifies that. Imagine that someone you love was *** and killed, and the police basically shrugged it off, failed to investigate, and then let your loved one's killer go home with the weapon he used to take your loved one's life? Then they tell you that they trust the killer's word that he's a good guy, even though you find out later that he has a history of arrests for domestic violence and assaulting a police officer. But the police didn't know that because they didn't bother to investigate him. Would that be just? Do you even know what justice is? Or do you just not care whether justice is served in the killing of a black child?

CNN announced about an hour ago that Zimmerman has been arrested but because of his "safety," they will not say where. Thanks to all the outrage and petitions, this ignorant a$$ has FINALLY been arrested. Let's just see how much time he gets on a second degree murder charge in Florida. Umm second degree murder does not carry the death penalty and this is some bs anyways cuz he shlda been charged with premeditated first degree murder or better a hate crime but noooo let him have time to collect enough support *** funds so he really wont be in the county sitting waiting for the magistrate they only did this to *** us up and its not okay ppl wake up! MTO, what the hell is a "feath penalty"? Also, he got charged with 2nd degree murder, which means he can't get sentenced to death. If you were doing your research, you would've known yesterday, when the prosecutor announced that she wouldn't convene the grand jury that he couldn't get the death penalty because in Florida only a grand jury can indict on 1st degree murder, and 1st degree murder is the only charge that can result in a death sentence. If you're going to cover actual news, it's your responsibility to do actual research. If not, leave it to the professionals. You're doing a grave disservice to the public.
Do your research! 2nd degree murder has the possiblity of a life sentence for offenders with a history of violent crimes. The average sentence for this conviction is 22 years. If convicted, the death sentence is not even on the table. Life in prison is good though! He'll have to live with what he did for the rest of his life, locked in a cage!

Second degree may not carry the death penalty. However confirmed hate crime does. He'll have his day in court. This won't be like Casey Anthony. He has a bounty on his head. He won't make it in jail nor out. Though he won't be placed in general population, they will get him before his first year is complete. Custody is the safest place for him right now.

I can't believe I keep coming to this horrible site. Where do I start with this garbage?
1. It's not the "feath penalty". It's the death penalty.
2. The maximum sentence for 2nd degree murder is life in prison, NOT the death penalty. The death penalty is only for murder 1.
3. You say "If convicted he will get the DEATH PENALTY" which isn't true at all. Even IF he was convicted of murder 1, it doesn't mean he would automatically get the death penalty.
Take some more pride in your website MTO, and stop misinforming your readers.

Slavery, hangings, burnings, all not so far behind us (about 100 years) so we know racism still exists. I'm with most of the posters...self defense is not chasing someone down...that is MURDER. I hope they do the right thing...manslaughter can carry as little as five or six years, meaning he would serve about fifteen months...if they dont do the right thing, Florida will BURN....
The only reason that they finally decided to arrest Zimmerman was because they feared the backlash of the black community. The *** prosecuter is just buying time for this Zimmerman trash.So they trying to make us think that there giving us what we want but at the end Zimmerman will not spend that much time in jail/prison. It would be a miracle if Zimmerman get's life. I'm glad that Trayvonne Martin's mom took back her statement that she believed that Zimmerman killing her son was an accident. Zimmerman won't be getting 1st degree like a lot of people were hoping but this prosecuter better get him for the 2nd degree. If this had been a policewoman/policeman, the minute he/she fired that gun they would've been placed on paid administrative leave and an investigation would have been conducted immediately. PERIOD.
There is too many inconsistencies in this case, it's a wonder y the prosecutor and the police chief stepped down. But 1 good thing 'bout lady justice she wears a blindfold, don't matter who u know it's all 'bout the facts.
