: Will Smith's production company Overbrook Entertainment released a new series called Red Table Talk in honor of Mother's Day.
In it, Jada Pinkett's mother is being SURPRISINGLY OPEN about her CRACK addiction. And she's telling not only EVERYONE IN THE WORLD . . . but she's telling it TO WILLOW. Here is how the UK's Daily Mail is reviewing the video:
Then they go into a bit of history about their pasts and Jada's troubled childhood.Wow ... did she need to tell that to Willow though??? And we heard that Jada had some ISSUES WITH THE PIPE back in the day too . . . why ain't SHE tell her story???
Banfield Jones tells her granddaughter Willow: 'I had mommy when I was very young and then I got addicted to drugs after mommy was born.'
Adrienne goes on to tell Willow: 'It was a very difficult time for us growing up with her and Jada did not have the kind of life that you have now.
'I was on drugs until your mom was like 17 or 18-years-old. That's a long time.'
Adrienne never reveals what type of drugs she used, although it should be that noted that Jada drew up in Baltimore in the 1980's at the height of the American crack cocaine epidemic.

There's nothing wrong with her saying this to Willow. That's called training up a child. She's warning her about a lifestyle Willow has probably already been exposed to at her young age. Y'all wanna big up artists that have NOTHING positive to offer but knock a grandmother for offering wise counsel to a child?
And still jada turned out to be a very successful lady, all that matters is that her mother beat that monkey and is still her to share her struggles with a child /teenager who has both parents in the spotlight, I bet the Lindsey's, Hiltons and many others wish they got these types of conversations before they discovered all the perks of being born into money
She told her story to try to help people, it came from a positive place let's not make this a negative thing MTO, some kids grow up thinking they're the only one that has problems. There is nothing wrong with telling your grandchildren the truth. My grandson asked me why his grandfather and I were no longer together. I immediately told him the truth in a way that a 7 year old would understand. He understood and the conversation *** to another interesting topic. Children and resilient and forgiving. Gotta love 'em!!
Ok, so ya'll just basically ASSumed it was crack. Okay, could not habe been anything else. Well, I applaud Jada's mom for telling Willow like it WAS. If you're ashamed of and don't LEARN from your past, you are definitely doomed to possibly repeat it. Grandma gets major points from me for not faking, and acting like life for her and Jada was all that. These celebs are regular folk, WITH MONEY, that's all.

How disrespectful MTO. Jada has ALWAYS been very forward with her mother's addictions. She was raised by her Grandmother and YES, Willow needed to know. Too many of us are raised in families with secrets and only the TRUTH will set you free. I loved that video and I loved how Jada kissed her mom and daughter before starting and how she spoke of turning a negative into a positive. ALL THREE of them are BEAUTIFUL and her past is just that! She's obviously redeemed herself and is helping to raise her grandkids so back up off her.
Inspirational! I didnt expect to be impressed. I was VERY impressed. I have a new found respect of Jada. So what how she sits. She has the mind and perceptive powers of a WOMAN! you know you got it together when you can teach your own mother a life lesson or two with all humility. Keep up the good work Jada!
This video was beautiful. A family learning how to communicate and love each other more. That's what this was about. They televised it because it can help other people. I am encouraged to do the same thing with my family. Jada was open and honest about her current struggles. This video was 19 minutes. It was not meant to discuss all of their life's experiences in one sitting. If she did experiment with drugs, telling Willow is not a necessity. Jada is still responsible for shaping this child. Clearly, Willow has issues with Jada. Willow sat away from Jada and twisted her mouth every time Jada spoke. Based on their conversation, it seems Willow takes issue with Jada's new direction of putting herself first. Jada dominated the conversation probably because she still wants to be a star but she should fall back more next time and give Willow more opportunity to speak. I hope to see more.
This look like 3 generations of free spirits which often lead to ***. But sometimes letting ur kid have the freedom to be themselves & chose certain things for themselves can lead to that lifestyle or to a lifestyle that is not good. Angelina is the same way with her six year old child Shiloh she said that shiloh wanted 2 wear boys clothes do boy things with her brothers & wanted to wear boy clothes she also cut her hair like a boy & she officially dresses her like a boy so not only will this child b confuse growing up but more than likely b a ***. Usually, when a mother let her child make those choices like that at a young age u know being real free spirited their mother did them the same way, so it's a generational thing. Hell Angelina said her mother let her boyfriend live with them @ age 14 & her & her boyfriend relationship was so intense they used to cut themselves & have *** @. Sooo, I think Jada should tighten that up a little bit with her daughter jus sayin
It's good that she leveled with her grandbaby. Jada turned out fine, but so many little girls and boys didn't, they were destroyed because their parents chose drugs and crime, and it has been devastating to generations now of black people. So it's good she's being up front, and it'll help Willow stay on the good path. She has so much talent, and is ripe for the picking by people who would want to bring her down.

Their heartfelt experience and expression to help others was beautiful; and now you people are trying to ruin that. Jada's Mom is unique and brilliant for coming through like she has. Not to mention, she is radiant and doesn't look like she's had one day of addiction issues. I'm so very proud of them. Please take this garbage down!
This world is fast paced in comparison to Jada's mother's generation, but c'mon let your kids be kids. Willow didn't need to know all of that right now. When she's a teen TRUST and believe that although she knows her grandma was a crackhead she'll still experiment with drugs and alcohol. They were handed the entertainment biz on a silver platter, and I seriously doubt that they asked for it.
So if she never stated the drug she abused how is she being labeled a crack addict? And I've read from jada interviews where she says that she abused alcohol severely but never "the pipe". Willow need guidance because coming from two "real" parents there is no way that dakota fanning should be more house trained and poised than her. I think will's first son's mother did a great job with him and jada should follow suit.
If her mom was a former addict, Great 4her 4overcoming that. Beautiful Conversation. i thouroughly enjoyed the strategy of the questions and responses. Jadas answers were soo eloquent and powerful..i quote "if u ask me if i wanna harbor on that verses findin the power in it..I Dont", and "Communication creates Partnership". Im gonna start having a 'Red Table' talk with my family now. I applaud and appreciate them for sharing this. Side note lol: even tho jada looks a lil hi offa percocet, she preached and benefited as a mother as a result from her mothers' rearing. I'm glad her mom can finally let go of her guilt; it shows regardless of her weakness, her strengths made her daughter what she is today (and it's hard to break a daughters love 4her mother) I did wanna hear wut Willow Wanted as far as career/life-wise,i'm not sure that was answered. And Jada looks great 2me even wit the cheek implants and no wonder Y Will wifed her..she seems pretty magnificient. :)
That was beautiful to watch! These are the kinds of "reality" talk shows that need to be on TV. :/ Jada is a great mom--you can tell by that conversation. You can also see why she gives Willow the freedoms with her clothing/hair choices, too. Is this a series online or something?
