They r both extremely intelligent and is talented in multiple areas & they both went to performing arts school. Sad to say, I believe Nicki lost this round by failing to see the big picture. All she really had to say is something along the lines of "'To each his own.' I set out to make a fun summer party record that people would enjoy at the beach, in the park, or at the pool; just as Will Smith did many eons ago. And if that does not pass for 'real' hip-hop, then so be it. I have to do what I feel." Then she should have performed for the fans. It is generally better to take the high road than to be dragged down into a hot mess of he said/she said. If Nicki does not learn better public relations and anger management, she is doomed. And this is from someone who favors her side. Hip-hop artists have been doing pop-ish party records, during the summer, forever. There is always time for serious, "real" hip-hop when harsh weather sets in again.
