: A man wearing a gas mask opened fire after tossing a tear gas canister at a midnight showing of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, in Aurora, COLORADO
A 24-year-old Caucasian man was arrested in a car park nearby in possession of a rifle, handgun and knife. One other gun was recovered from the theatre.
The suspect told police explosives had been stored at his home.
Police chief Dan Oates told reporters that an apartment block in the north of Aurora had been evacuated as they investigated that information.
The gunman was named as Aurora resident James Holmes, by FBI and Department of Homeland Security sources.
So far 12 people have died of gunshot wounds. An MTOer who was IN THE THEATER tells us that the man was dressed like the villian of the Batman movie BANE.

It really breaks my heart.This *** will be called mental and labeled all types of things except the true evil person he really is while white people will continue to give Zimmerman a pass. I don't agree with one comment above I think that it's the unstable people,crazy and deranged that we can predict actions of. It was reported on the news that this gunman's own mother called the police and said she was almost positive(before they were) that they had the right person in custody for this Mass ***. The people that know you best know when your thinking is off and it takes MADD time to plan out such an event and although he was a Premed college student that's no license to go around collecting Guns, Explosives and ammunition; meaning somebody somewhere should've pulled this guy's Psyche card long time ago. We are all caught up in our own daily lives, but we must continue to be alert, vigilant and aware of our surroundings, because any of us could be an innocent bystander of a horrific crime. I feel also that there are all kinds of Evil sinister movies that contribute to and influence people doing things like this I can name many titles I have seen, but I won't for fear of encouraging some unstable person to view them. Now that I myself know better I do better and this movie that people were lined up to view in Colorado called "Dark ***" also dabbles with the occult and people should be cautious what they view & especially what they put into the minds of small children.
I do agree that "Marshall Law" is definitely in effect. Not just because of this incident alone, but from many others as well. On another note though, when it comes to these Superhero movies, you have to understand something. These people view these movies as well as the characters as a "religious movement" of sorts. They get so caught up in the characters, that they actually think that they are the characters and begin to act out what they see. They become obsessed. There's obviously some "demonic" undertones to this movie. Both this movie as well as, "The Dark ***" were very, very dark in their themes. Remember Heath Ledger as The Joker? He was so caught up in that character, that he even remained in character when the filming was done! Now, you tell me if that's normal? People were even online throwing death threats at others who had a difference of opinion about, "The Dark *** Rises". So, there is definitely something sinister behind this film.

We visited Aurora this past April. It is a nice city. Colorado has many great cities.
