I see the hypocrisy in this whole thing here. If the town qualifies residents to have section 8 then that means there are white people living there with section 8. To suggest that AA's a can't receive section 8 in that town is racist especially if they are giving it to Europeans and Hispanics. Point 2.) Over 2/3rds of the African American population is middle class and above. So then where are the African Americans who are not receiving section 8 and why is the African American population in that town void or at a 0%? Point 3.) I read the article and the comments and people are saying "why make it into a racist topic" and it shows the hypocrisy of White privileges as to be one sighted. They speak against AA's and section 8 as though its associated with AA's yet failing to see that the article is clearly stating that their are people on section 8 living there - which would mean they are white and Hispanic - yet their comments are "who you want to live next to people on section 8" not acknowledging the fact that they are actually living next to people who are on section 8 and are white and Hispanic.
Racism - see it for what it really is.
Many Section8 families are trifling. I don't want them in my neighborhood. They bring their low-class behavior to the suburbs. I am not talking about Blacks, but Section8 people in general. People who work hard for their small piece of suburbia have a greater respect for it than the people who are just crashing there for a few years. When all you can afford is a nice small home in a lower middle class neighborhood the last thing you want is people bringing the ghetto into your backyard. My rant is probably more personal than reflective of the article though.
Nasty Nate. Please get an understanding. Apparently, if the town has Section 8 already but only want to give it to whites and Hispanics, then this means that clearly, according to your comment, the whites and Hispanics must be the ones with the brood of kids. I agree with the other comments here, this is simply and clearly an effort to not allow blacks to qualify or use Section 8 in this town.
Lloyd, I know of plenty of people who are NOT on Section 8 and are also trifling!
A single mom w/ 6 kids? That makes no sense, unless she's a widow. ***! On the other hand, Section 8 unfortunately always will have a negative association to it. Most people on Section 8 (Black, White, Hispanic) aren't usually productive, contributive citizens. I mean, if you're using it the right way, for a limited time while you get on your feet, fine. But it it's simply a way of life for you, fail. Get a *** job and pay rent like normal people.
