@ImOnFire, yes dear. I am a happily married woman of 7 years and I have a 3 year old son. Everyday for us isn't perfect, but we made a CONSCIOUS commitment to be together, through marriage and our son was conceived 5 months AFTER our marriage. Nope, neither one of us is perfect, but my husband and I don't have illegitimate kids. It was important for me to be with someone on that same level. You know, there are STILL some folk out here who do this. Folks, stop the ignorance, and stop legitimizing illegitimate behavior just because some of you have fallen to it. Marriage and children out of wedlock is not the problem in the black community. It's the lack of encouragement, the self hate, the drug dealing, lack of training and arrogance of people. We can deal with children out of wedlock but not of stupidity. You have to reach the root issues to solve the minor problems.Congrats to the couple. Every child is innocent and truly a blessing. You are so wrong it's baffling,, the number one problem affecting the black community is a LACK OF FAMILY UNITY!! People have kids left and right,, men not taking care of their children. Women just having multiple baby daddies. If we as a people had more family unity,, the jail cells would be emptier, less teenage girls would be pregnant, more black kids would go to college. Most of the problems would be solved then we could work on the other problems..

Kids can still end up growing up well without both parents being together! It's not just the black race also! Why is everything about race? I am a product of beign born in a broken home. My life wasn't the best but I am now a Marriage and Family therapist at the age of 28 and I believe in never judging and looking down on anyone. Children are a blessing and honey it takes one level headed parent to raise a child. Obviously it's great to have two parents but one doesn't mean the end of the world. Women have been raising children as single parents forever. It's never gonna change so go look in your own closets before judging other people. Period!
