: We know that sometimes new moms don't know EVERYTHING . . . but they SHOULD know not to face an INFANT forward in a car seat. SMH . .
@ jstdngme, the car seat needs to face the rear because in case of an accident the baby will be thrown towards the front of the vehicle (think about how seat belts work for grown ups). if the baby is facing forward, that jerking/thrusting could cause death, but if they're facing the rear the seat is there to protect their back against the sudden jerking/thrusting involved with a car crash.
An infant should never be in a forward facing seat. At that age they can't even support their necks. They actually tell you that a child weighing less than 40 pounds has a significantly higher chance of dying in an accident if they are facing forward. My son is 1 and he is still facing backward because he is only 30 pounds.
this is a "GROW WITH ME SEAT". All of my nieces and nephews left the hospital with this type of seat. The hospital inspects what a newborn leaves the hospital with and these seats are completely fine. Looks like people and MTO need to invest some more $$$$ into their childrens safety (seats to be exact) before they start calling people out for spending money on a SAFER seat.

All new convertible seats available today allow a child to remain rear-facing until they weigh up to 30 or 35 lb, depending on the model."....just bc they make GROW with me carseats for infants don't mean that they are safe. They also make crib bumpers that aren't breathable material and have been related to many cases of SIDS.

I'm a mother just like her and when I had my child her car seat sat facing forward. To me I had to see my child be able to make sure she's breathing properly. Even to reach to give her bottle or give her a touch. I understand car seat rules but do you follow seat belt rules? Some people do some don't. Plus my child would cry facing the rear. Let's focus more on driving safer rather than the vehicle.
i dont care if its a grow with me seat or how expensive it is just like i saw a very expensive top of the line crib had to be recalled because to many babies was getting caught in the bars just because they say its safe after a couple are injured only then will they order a recall and say its not safe dont be stupid turn ur babies around because the company that makes these arent loosing rest if stuff happens to your child
I take "Grow With Me" to mean that, when it is TIME for the child to face forward, the chair can accommodate it. But an infant should always be rear-facing. Period. Talking about, "wanna make sure they're breathing". They won't be breathing when they fly through the windshield. Get over yourself and protect your child.

A car seat should remain REAR-FACING until 2 years of age, or until the toddler has grown beyond the weight or height limit for the car seat, which can be found on the back of any car seat. If the baby is crying and thats how she can attend to him without taking him outta the seat then WTF! Yall complain about every *** thing yall see up here. This doesnt mean shes a bad or unfit mom.....maybe the baby stays quiet looking at his mommy so shes doing what she has to do to accomodate him. SMH.
