: There is a new report gaining MOMENTUM inside Nigeria - the report says that Beyonce and Jay Z received $1M that was designated for starving African children. They supposedly have DOCUMENTATION that shows the governor of Bayelsa - where 47% of the population live in poverty - diverted $1M in aid to Jay Z and Beyonce.
Here is what is being reported by the online news mag Saharareports.com:
SaharaReporters has uncovered a document indicating that a million dollars of Bayelsa State’s poverty alleviation fund was spent by then Governor Goodluck Jonathan on bringing American entertainers Beyonce and Jay Z to Nigeria in 2006.It's not clear what IF ANY laws were broken - by the promoters, Jay Z, or Beyonce.
In a letter stamped and signed by Bayelsa officials, N150 million (approximately a million dollars in 2006) was released from the state’s poverty alleviation fund for the first ThisDay Music Festival in Lagos.
The document came to light after a controversy was ignited over how much money American “reality TV” star Kim Kardashian was paid for a brief visit to Nigeria. . .
The sources who provided the 2006 document for Beyonce and Jay Z’s visit told Saharareporters that there was a shady financial link between the producers of some high profile entertainment events and the governors and other officials who control budgets at the state and federal levels. Mr. Obaigbena’s newspaper, ThisDay, is a major sponsor of entertainment events that brings US music stars as well as top public figures for flying visits to Nigeria in exchange for gargantuan paychecks. . .

I agree, but then that comes with knowing the history of where you are going, which Beyonce and Jay-Z probably didn't know the state of the economy. From what I understand 47% of the people in Bayelsans live in proverty. And since Bayelsa was one of the states projected during Beyonce's performance, folks are probably going to look at it from the standpoint of "how could you not know" and that they could have at least left a donation.
HOW THE FK THESE people go to poor countries to perform and receive such amounts when children and families are starving. That 500k for Kim *** to sit there with a dumb, bored look on her face was atrocious!! This is why Blacks or Africans in this case never get anywhere. That money should be spent to prop up their economy, advance tech, research, housing, food, ***, promote trade and business to assist the people of that nation. Lets be real meaning let us be honest without being bias meaning not being a hater or fan. The problem is not with Bey and Jay at all. The problem is with the governor. First of all why would you even take money to get these celebrities instead of taking care of what is important? Second of all Bey and Jay most likely did not know where this money was coming from and if they did they wouldn't have accepted this money. Honestly who checks where people are getting the funds to pay them to make an appearance at this event. One thing I know is that they would not take money that is meant to help the people in poverty. So you have to look at this situation rationally. Bey and Jay obviously did not know where this money was coming from and the problem is not with them its with the governor.
