: Last year Kanye West and 50 Cent battled to see who was the king of hip hop. Kanye won the battle 957,000 to 50’s 691,00 Units. But this week, it’s looking like there’s a new King of Hip Hop. MediaTakeOut.com has just gotten wind that Lil Wayne sold 462,000 units in ONE DAY – and is likely to pass Kanye West’s mark. Word is that he may sell as many as 1 million copies in his first week on the charts. Gives new meaning to the term ‘A Milli’ Don’t it…
Here’s how the website hitsdailydouble.com is reporting it:
Thanks to an unprecedented pre-release blitz and the smash single, “Lollipop,” Lil Wayne’s eagerly awaited Cash Money/Universal Motown release Tha Carter III is on target to sell more than 900k albums this week, almost twice as much as the previous record-holder, Mariah Carey’s E=MC2, which debuted with 475k last April.
A King is born. Wonder how Kanye’s gonna take getting knocked off the top spot….
