WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- A Cherokee County woman is charged with child molestation after investigators said they found a 14-year-old runaway girl hiding in the woman’s shower.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s detectives, acting on information they received from Atlanta police, went to The Terraces apartments in Woodstock Wednesday morning looking for the juvenile.
While there, detectives encountered Tonessa Jones, 40, who told investigators that the 14-year-old runaway was not at the apartment, authorities said. However, investigators said the 14-year-old runaway girl was found hiding in the shower.
Upon further investigation, detectives said they determined that Jones had been having a sexual relationship with the juvenile.
Investigators said Jones and the juvenile met and had been communicating on a phone chat line for several weeks.
Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstruction of an officer.
Jones is currently in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without bond. The juvenile was returned to her family in Atlanta.
