Why do Bi-racial / Mixed people think they are black?

: Of course I'm talking about the ones who are mixed with black and another race or races. But, I hate that mixed people (mixed with black) are seen as being black when they are uplifting in society, therefore, they don't go through the struggle like black folks; they have privileges that REAL blacks don’t. Back in the day they had to struggle, but times are different now. It's time to get rid of the one drop rule, it's racist and it promotes self-hatred. F*ck the one drop rule, that rule was made during a time where everything was segregated and whites wouldn't allow mixed people in their "whites only" associations, so blacks took them in and treated them as their own. But, they are not black; they are not white (or whatever race or races) they are BI-RACIAL / MIXED.

We are black. Any drop of African American blood in you, you are black. Not every black person with threw hard times. People should be proud of who they are. When bi-racial people don’t claim there black side, people have something to say about that. Talking about we are ashamed of our black people. Make up your mind. I claim both side of my race. Asian and black

You can't say they're not black bc they are black and whatever they're mixed with so I think what you mean is they're not completely black, however when it boils down to it we're the same.......what do biracials blacks get that full blacks don't???

@sextcatwoman you're right!

chocoluv97

Um this thread is backwards. Mixed people are more likely not to say their black and to say their mixed or choose to be called their other race than their black side where as many people who arent mix say mixed people are just black by using one drop rule

sex-and-chocolate

No one wants to be black these days. I see more half black biracial people saying they're not black but mixed, or they try to pass for the other race they're mixed with, if they can. But, I agree with you, they're not black people and *** be automatically be put in the same category as black people. They're different, and need their own identity, away from black people.

IDK I LOOK @ IT AS IF U AINT COME FROM A BLACK WOMB, THEN U JUST AINT BLACK PERIOD. YOU ARE NOT RAISED LIKE US, U CAN NEVER KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE FROMTHE GOODS TO THE BADS, FROM THE LITTLE THINGS TO THE BIG. LIKE COOKING, CLEANING, HAIR CARE, THE SMELL WHEN U WALK IN YO MOMS HOUSE. THE WAY SHE RAISES HER CHILDREN, THE STRENGTH SHE GIVES U, GOING TO CHURCH, THANKSGIVING DINNER, AND FAMILY REUNIONS. THERES NOTHING LIKE COMING FROM AND BEING RAISED BY A STRONG BLACK WOMAN.

from a grown-up point of view- no one can predict how they are born. from a young mind point of view- there are no rules to what you want to call ourselves.

Girl are u dilirious??? I'm mixed wit black *** white and you's a *** lie we don't know the trials and tribulations to the extent that full black folks do. I don't have the curly "mixed ppl" hair. I HAVE to put straightening perms/retouches in my hair often or I will have an afro..I HAVE to use grease..I HAVE to use gel and hairspray when I dont have my retouch to make my hair lay dwn. So you can kill that noise my girl. You entitled to your own opinion...but if you reread it again, u sound silly. As you can see I don't have the skin color of the average mixed person, nor the eyes, nor the hair and my ma is white as snow and daddy blacker than nite so settle dwn sweetie....

I think ppl who say the one drop rule have a slave mentality... but i dont agree with the ppl who r full blk *** seem to want nothing to do with mixed ppl

midzmonkey

Ok that one drop rule was created by white supremacist who thought having any "black blood" made you inferior or black as they put it. So if you believe black people are inferior to white people then your racist.
